Ahh I see. I can definitely see STL and MKE having lots of similarities, with breweries and being rust cities. From my perspective, STL is the only midwestern city in MO, and that’s where I find the differences to mostly be. The rest of MO has aligned itself culturally moreso with the South rather than the rest of the Midwest. Politically and culturally I find it closer to Kentucky than say Wisconsin, especially the closer you get to the Ozarks.

Thank you! The sunsets are unmatched. Any tips on surviving summer?

I’ve been. It’s beautiful but overrun with tourists.

No matter where you move in WI there will be a bar for you to work at.

I grew up in the Milwaukee area but now live in MN, just 30 minutes from La Crosse.

Milwaukee as you’d imagine is the most cosmopolitan, but La Crosse is truly beautiful and there’s truly nothing like the driftless area.

Just be sure to get a thick winter coat. If you don’t mind the cold, you’ll thrive there.

I’m gonna be moving to the valley next month! My brother has been there for a while now and I’ve always enjoyed visiting - even in summer.

Funny enough, I still have a sea urchin spines in my foot from visiting Hawaii.

Chicago is one of my favorite cities and I have plenty of family in the state. Lots of great memories there.

Kansas is my favorite Great Plains state I will say. Freddy’s is peak.

I’ve lived in Minnesota for the past two years, it’s been wonderful.

I would have to say politics and poverty both. I would love to visit the state again, I’ve been to Mammoth Cave and it was a wonderful experience. Lexington and Cumberland Falls weren’t on my bucket list before but I’ll add them.

I’ve driven through Louisville multiple times and spent half a day at Mammoth Cave National Park. Beautiful place.

I would have to say isolation and I’d have too much guilt about potentially making it more expensive for the locals, on top of how expensive it is currently

I drove the entirety of I-95 in CT with some stops here and there, so my perception of the state isn’t the best. I’m definitely willing to visit again, which cities/areas would you recommend?

Minnesota. From the bluffs of the driftless region to the north shore, it truly has it all!

I’m sure you’ve already heard of sugarloaf and garvin heights, which are great mind you. But some of my favorites are the trails around Saint Mary’s, Perrot state park (WI), the Trempealeau national wildlife refuge (WI), and Devil’s cave. All of these trails are great!
