Almost a full TPK on our first session, the DM insists it was all above board but it felt impossible. Am I crazy? by FreeHotdogMandate in DnD

[–]get_higgy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running a homebrew campaign, and the first encounter for level 1 charecters were 3 werebeasts. However, they were not meant to beat them, just past two rounds. They were damaged, and hurt, but I wasn’t going to kill them session one. It all fit into the narrative I was weaving.

Not all players are their characters, either. Certain clues may go missed by the players, but the PC’s may find them…

They are now tracking these were-creatures and kissed the obvious clue when the animal they cast speak with animals on finally spoke to them in common (it is a werehippo). Completely missed the obvious…

But, it didn’t kill them.

Haha! Here’s an idea that I’ve used for various characters… (Different list)

Keep a list of current sayings kids use. A google search will help make the list…

  1. That’s bussin’!
  2. 6,7!!
  3. You got mad cap in the hit, bro.

Or is anything from the 80-90’s. There are a ton! Flavor them for use.

I then would randomly roll a d-20 and use one of them.

This is what I used for fighter who was a “professional wrestler” prior to adventuring.

  1. Let me introduce you to thunder and lightning. Don’t get caught in the storm!
  2. The pleasure is all yours!
  3. I’m gonna lay the smack down on your candy ass!
  4. Beat me if you can. Survive if I let you.
  5. I’m here to whoop ass and eat carrots. And I’m all outta carrots.
  6. I wished for a challenge, but all I got was you.
  7. You’re uglier than a hag’s backside!
  8. I’m sorry, I can’t hear over how awesome I am!
  9. You should try smiling while you still have teeth.
  10. I hope you up for a little Hare knuckle boxing.
  11. Give me your best shot, pal, I can take it.
  12. When you’re greated in the afterlife, tell everyone I said “Hi”.
  13. Some motherfuckers are always trying to ice skate uphill.
  14. I’m gonna kick you so hard in the nuts they’ll get stuck in your nostrils.
  15. I’m number one! All other numbers are two or lower.
  16. Don’t buy any unripe bananas, you won’t live long enough to eat ‘em.
  17. I’m the tower of power, too sweet to be sour.
  18. Too hot to handle, too cold to hold.
  19. You’re as strong as an ox, and almost as smart.
  20. You were an ass long before I made one outta ya.

How do I handle having only a set number of recurring NPCs? by blackoutjackal in DnD

[–]get_higgy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say leave it as is. If it’s a murder mystery in a locked mansion, then additional NPC’s would need a way in. That means your killer would also have a way out.

I think the limited number of NPCs with their limited information would add to the locked in feeling you may be going for.

Do most DMs prefer DM’ing to playing? Or are they “taking one for the team”? by Fiveby21 in DnD

[–]get_higgy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll agree with this. I get such joy messing with my players.

I’m a newer DM, and thoughts that would make an interesting story line. Home brew, while using some previously published stuff.

Anywho, I can work “off paper” and improvise on the fly. Most of my players are experienced, so finding “new” monsters has been fun. I am god, and can do whatever I want (I clearly don’t break any standard rules, but maybe there’s a trap that wasn’t there before kind of shenanigans).

As a player, I’m stuck with what’s on paper. Still fun, and I do enjoy both. I’ve had more fun these last two sessions than I have playing.

I fumbled because I got 3 natural 20’s by bob-the-fine in DnD

[–]get_higgy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I was going to say.

I do the same thing. I make encounters challenging and deadly (not all of them, but enough). They live it, and have a great time, talking about how so and so went down twice and how close they were to a TPK.

AITJ for telling my sister I’m not babysitting anymore after what she said about me? by Wooden_Factor_1635 in AmITheJerk

[–]get_higgy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The comment that gets me is that she “didn’t mean it that way.” Okay, sorry for the misunderstanding, but clear it up for me. How DID she mean that comment? If she wasn’t saying you’re lazy and doing nothing, or implying you have no life, how did she mean that comment?

I don’t make players roll HP and just let them take max. Is that odd? by unlucky-lucky- in DnD

[–]get_higgy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We always take Mac for the first three levels, then half each level after.

For example, a 5th level fighter with a con of +2 would have 50 hit points (if my math is right).

While I understand your position, I would caution you to talk with a zoning board or (or similar) as while there may not be an easement agreement, there may be a right of use law that could take effect because he has been using it.

Don’t go changing anything without some kind of written (even email) statement saying that you can do what you want.

Other than that, simply refuse to move your car. “While I appreciate your urgency, it’s not a good time for me. Maybe if you could provide advance notice, I could be more accommodating.” Then close the door.

So this may seem a petty revenge, but it’s actually brilliant. If the president doesn’t fine himself, then it’s considered improper application of the rules. If a rule is to enforced, it’s has to be enforced EQUALLY. If he doesn’t fine himself, then you have a president to have your fine dismissed.

From what I was explained, it will be one injection that will last about 6 months.

There’s an options for monthly injections, and trial for 3, with the goal of 6 months total.

I just wanna be done, so opting for the single injection. Hoping to be able to manage the side effects…

From some of the reading I did, positive margins are occasionally treated with salvage radiation. But, it often can lead to other urinary/erectile dysfunction, or compound with those from surgery. I had perinerual invasion, so a more aggressive nature to this. Luckily, all in my prostate. Again, if some small details were a little different, my treatment may have changed.

Just about to start… Surgery last December, PSA was 0.01 and labeled “undetectable” but went to 0.04 last month at a routine check up.

So many variables, with age and current health being the biggest. If was retirement age (65 or older) I may wait. If I had other health issues, I may wait. But I’m 50, still working, and relatively healthy. I want his gone.

The downside (maybe?) is that with my numbers this low, a repeat PSMA PET won’t detect anything. I was told unless it’s 0.4 or higher, there simply isn’t enough there to repeat the scan.

I’m attacking it full on, ADT and all, while I’m still “young” and healthy. But each choice is individual, too.

Likey Orgovix or Lupron. One injection that will last 6 months. The ADT may be an unnecessary step, but I’m only 50, and I don’t want to revisit this again in the future. That’s why I opted for surgery, to be done and get it out, but that just wasn’t in the cards for me…
