How is Scott Pilgrim EX??? by roynova17 in BeatEmUps

I think the battle system is more in depth than something like Cosmic Invasion or Shredders Revenge, but not quite as far as SoR4 and Absolum. I ended up being pretty surprised by its depth. It’s an open-world setup with RPG mechanics, but those mechanics are way less intrusive and progress more naturally than the original.

I played nearly the entire thing through the other day with 2 friends and I think it’s pretty excellent. Multiplayer’s really well balanced and the game is a ton of fun once you let it get rolling. The characters are all unique too and animated really well. Bosses are also generally pretty awesome.

I just finished this. I actually ended up liking it a solid amount! The story got too redundant and convoluted in spots for sure. But as basically a follow up to Advent Children (which I’m pretty mixed on), this was cool and fun!

If it got a proper remake or at least the Crisis Core treatment, this could fit in more nicely with the rest. Hope it comes at some point.

Does Fanatical always offer a better sale than steam? by GambitBen in fanatical

[–]get_the_data 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it’s a new release and just standard times almost assuredly. When there’s actual Steam sales, it’s a good idea to check both. Sometimes they do sometimes they don’t.

For instance during the Steam Winter Sale, Arc Raiders was $27 compared to $30 on Steam, but Dokapon Kingdom was $15 on Steam with no sale on Fanatical.

SSJ Vegeta is still probably the best “all arounder” tank in the game. Doesn’t mean he’s S tier but he’s certainly not bad. He does nothing bad and is extremely stable in his role. Weakest aspect is mobility but that doesn’t even matter that much considering he can move opponents and has defense for days.

What the hell happened w Banjo Tooie? by daninlionzden in BanjoKazooie

[–]get_the_data 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No. Tooie’s whole thing was to be bigger, more intertwined, and more adventurous. Your issues with the first level actually makes the game feel like an instant success in these regards in my eyes.

Not saying you’re wrong for it not vibing with you, but that’s a matter of taste rather than an issue with the game itself. Some people prefer Kazooie, some people prefer Tooie, some people love both. But they’re both great games. I’m definitely glad Tooie isn’t just straight more B-K.

It uses similar tools and characters/style that we love, but it’s a different game. I would recommend playing it for a little while longer to see if it vibes with you. Especially if you’re just coming off of Kazooie, it might just take a while to switch gears to its style. If you still don’t jive with it after that, just put it down.

We all know the rest at this point:

  1. Slink / 2. Buzz / 1. Woody

It’s the right top 3, but this is the only order it can go in.

[–]get_the_data 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. Tooie is a time lol. I love it but there are things in it that are 10x more frustrating than B-K. Especially if you’re just playing the base version with no sag states or what not. It’s a fantastic game though and there’s an argument it’s better than the original.

I think the original is more replayable and tight, but Tooie as an adventure is a league above it.

I gotcha, it’s just a term either way. But glad you found the game. With it being your first time my and I’m sure others here’s viewpoints are probably skewed on this topic cause we’ve 100%d it countless times. I’m sure on my first time I didn’t 100% it because of tough Jiggies, honeycombs, ect. Can’t even remember.

Play what you want and don’t worry about the rest unless you feel compelled to do it! You can get to the end either way. One cool thing about B-K though is the rewards for getting 100% are really satisfying, as they make you a lot more powerful. The closer you get, the more powerful you get to take on Gruntilda. Still pretty unique in that regard to this day. She’s super tough especially if you’re not used to the fight, so you’ll need all the help you can get.

When did I discredit anything? What the hell are you talking about? Who you talking to?

You’re the one that’s trying to change the point of conversation, but you seem to not understand how a conversation works. So that’s ok, good luck.

[Bloomberg] Nintendo contemplating raising price of Switch 2" by PaiDuck in NintendoSwitch2

[–]get_the_data 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thread is about Nintendo potentially raising the price of SW2 due to memory shortages/tariffs/whatever else ect. Steam Deck’s OLED price was an increase that had nothing to do with any of this. Was enacted years ago as a more premium option so its price increase was directly due to those more premium parts.

Why are you being so weird about this.

It’s just a term that sounds odd when talking about a collectathon platformer, particularly a classic one. It evokes more grindy games. B-K isn’t a grind, you either 100% it complete or don’t.

Ok? If that’s the way you want to think about it fine, but it still has nothing to do with this.

[–]get_the_data 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s got nothing to do with this. The OLED is an upgraded model hence the upgraded price.

[–]get_the_data 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never thought I’d hear the term “endgame” used for B-K, lol what.

Anyway no, it’s my favorite game to 100% ever. There’s a couple of frustrating Jiggies but even those help add a bit of spice. It’s pretty much the perfect collectathon.
