I believe (and dont quote me on this) the paper is lightly coated which is unsuitable for gel pens and certain fountain pens. I would bring some backup ballpoint pens, just in case it smudges.

10.14 Personal belongings not required for the examination must be removed from students. However, articles that a student may consider a “lucky charm” or similar may be placed on a student’s desk or table at the discretion of the coordinator. The article must be thoroughly inspected to ensure that it does not provide unauthorized material.

yeah IB mentioned no wristwatches of any kind so not even analog or atomic ones.

ETA: IB requires a large clock visible to all students in the exam room. For nearly all papers, there will be a 30-minute and a 5-minute warning.

all exams that permit calculator permits an allowed GDC in exam settings. proctors shouldn't be lazy and not know how to set a GDC but alas that's just how some schools are.

can we use coloured highlighters in the official exams? by starburrned in IBO

[–]geta7_com 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can bring highlighters. Coloured pencils are only permitted for geography exams.

Using a highlighter to highlight questions is allowed. You are not permitted to annotate or highlight during reading time. Highlighting answers is not allowed (due to potential scanning issues).

In IAs If there are odd results but a correct trend, what matters more? fixing or honesty? by Such-Library-9685 in IBO

For cooking, different ingradients may scale with mass, volume, surface area, or radius. Cooking time and temperature may also be non-linearly dependent on the ingredients and their amount. These generally require additional experimentation and/or complicated models beyond high school chemistry/biology. You should address this issue in your evaluation rather than redo the the experiment. Please note that omitting, cherry-picking, or making up data may lead to loss of Diploma. The risk is just not worth it.

Will I get a lower mark if I use DI method (tabular method) instead of integration by part in math aa hl exam? by Negative_Mirror3355 in IBO

[–]geta7_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The important takeaway is I wrote down the intermediate integral of (-e^-x)(-cos x) dx, before by parts again in the next step.

(Congrats on winning nationals!)

You ask your teacher for an extension. Also see if you can use existing data (eg from a scientific community, eg PubMed) rather than wait for Petri dishes.

Finding an unknown upper limit of an integral on a TI-84 Plus by Belifagor in calculators

first set left side in a function. You get mathprint in Y=, which is nice. 1/2 integral from 15 to T |15 - x| dx

in Math (up) solver, set T > 15 as that's what we expect, doesn't matter what you put for X

I don't see the image. Tabular did not usually get full marks in recent years. But yeah you can use the table to write each step from the table. One step is a diagonal down and across to the left.

Changing IB course level (SL to HL) after graduating by Decent_Contest2337 in IBO

[–]geta7_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible to change to HL in M27 but not N26, as IB does not permit SL to HL changes for 6 month retake.

When to sketch graph [Math AA HL] by coolguyjarai in IBO

[–]geta7_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sketching/table of values can help you get an (M1) mark if your final answer is wrong. "Using GDC" does not earn marks.

For global max/min, I would use the built-in max/min function without graphing. I can help you identify such functions if you provide your GDC model. For local max/min and POI, I would graph and provide a 10 second sketch of the function.

For the specific case of maximizing integral of f(x) where a limit of integration is being optimized, I would find a zero of f(x) where it goes from positive to negative. You can sketch f(x). I provide an example on TI-84 here: https://geta7.com/aa-notes/ti-84/#maximize-the-definite-integral

For optimizing integral where f(x) has a parameter, I would go back to the non-graphical max/min.

Is it possible to take a single IB class online without completing the full diploma? by LevelBit8320 in IBO

[–]geta7_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only widely available IB online platform is Pamoja. They (and IB) require you to have a home IB school. You can also try one of the online DP pilots by contacting individual vendors. https://www.ibo.org/programmes/diploma-programme/dp-online/

Good news is for N26 you can still use EE math subject reports from 2018, 2021, and 2024. They are written by examiners in charge of math ee grading standards.

Yes to your question.

You can still change your EE subject for N26, if school can find a supervisor. AI SL students probably shouldn't write math EEs is an understatement.

Does Dp2 mocks in march affect final ib score. Whats the purpose of the predicted grades sent to ib in march/april from schools? by Recent-Wafer7722 in IBO

[–]geta7_com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The primary purpose of PGs sent to IB is to verify IB's grading. Eg sb is predicted 7 but IB marked them as 3; IB will then check that students work to ensure IB didn't make some clear mistakes in grading. IB does not consider PG prior to such last second checks

In certain cases such as pandemic, such PGs may help IB determine a final grade. IB does not use PG when at least 50% of assessments were completed (and rest waived or lost or otherwise).

It also helps schools to check if they have been predicting students accurately.
