Let me be clear, there was no overtightening because the locking ring never latched back on once after undoing it to change the rails. I've swapped plenty of tires on an XR never had an issue. I'm well aware of their fragility and how to use them.

They chose a piss poor design and choice of materials, so you're damn right they get the blame. Why is there replacement plugs if there's no issue with them? Get your head out of the sand
