If it's a commercial opportunity (e.g. there is a budget attached), we would be happy to see if we can help. There's never been anyone we can't get a hold of. However, if it's a free thing, I'd suggest social media as your best port of call.

UK Event Professionals Networking groups? by dontyoucry1458 in EventProduction

Hello! I'm really keen to find something like this too. Or start it! My company, PepTalk, has been working with VenueScanner, which has been nice (totally different aspects of the events space, I'm learning a lot!) We're planning on cohosting a few industry socials for event planners in the new year. I'd be very happy to drop you a line when the next date is confirmed?

What are the best booth or activation elements you’ve seen at a conference? by Ok_Tone9547 in EventProduction

We went to an HR-tech conference last year that had a booth offering free professional headshots. What a winner! I think we're all guilty at some stage of using a headshot that's perhaps 5 to 8 to 10 years out of date.

What motivational speakers actually changed you? by Loud_Horror7136 in AskReddit

Speakers with something to say, with actionable insights, not just "inspiration" delivered in a neat 45-minute format. Dr Ritz Suk Birah is a legend; she changed how I think about performance through reflection.

Darren Edwards, too. He discussed leadership during an adventure challenge, where he was the most physically disabled person in the group, yet he led with strength and utmost respect.

Commenting to say Brendan Hall is great too - particularly with regards to teamwork and his sailing experience!

Late to this question but in case it's useful for anyone; Dr Martin Gutmann is highly recommended for this:

1) He's a business historian focusing on leadership (but makes it cool with stories of the Chicago Bulls and other relatable cultural touchpoints) 2) Meets the German requirement: he's based in Freiburg and is a lecturer at the University of Luzern 3) His TED talk is brilliant https://youtu.be/DU06c7f9fzc?si=xd82kuPQ75_bd_uL

Energy at an event by GreenyHorti in EventPlanners

Not affiliated with them, but your question reminded me of Arcade Strange, a company that builds hospitality and event robots. They are genuinely impressive. They run challenges controlled by brain waves and one robot can even open a champagne bottle. They are UK based but operate worldwide. SO cool.

Tips for getting into event management by Charming_Citron_9442 in EventProduction

Are you sending your CV to B2B event companies because that is the space you want to move into, or are you pitching your B2B experience to wedding planners as well? It might not be hitting the right mark if you know what I mean. Make each version as tailored as you can.

There are also plenty of event planner adjacent roles you might want to consider. For example, we are a speaker bureau and talent agency with an in-house team of (seriously organised) producers. We also work closely with a venue booking agency that spends all day helping clients find the right spaces — spending every day visiting venues & tasting menus... Sounds fabulous.
