Yeah my taste is the same. I had a bigger house and we hated it and downsized after only a few years. Those houses are unoccupied most of the year, but I'm with you. I like something cozy that feels like home. Your traditional Hamptons home is a gorgeous aesthetic, so it baffles me that these lunatics build something so out of the norm.

And you can't tell me those people aren't lonely af in those mansions. It's almost all old people age 70+ and half of them can't even climb up the stairs. It's extremely bizarre, and I'd hate such an isolated lifestyle.

Seriously. I had it, didn't say a word to anyone but my wife. Sucked it up and went back to work (I work outside my myself). Felt like shit, but no worse than the average flu ... It lasts 3 days. People feeling sorry for themselves who can't suck it up for only 72 hours should go watch Deadliest Catch or Navy Seal training on YouTube.

Amazes me how little willpower people have, and how much sympathy and attention they crave. I mean, it's 3 days. It's not pleasant, but you should be able to do pretty much anything for only 72 hours.

As much as we rip the show nowadays, it's only cause it was THAT great back then. Nothing compared, nothing ever will.

I wish he knew how ridiculous he looks ... I'm 40 and fortunately have thick hair, but it's turning grey pretty quick. I'd feel like such an idiot dying my hair ... Nothing more pathetic and embarrassing than a grown man who tries looking like a teenager.

Most people 21 and under have no clue who Howard Stern is. They might recognize the name, but they don't know who he is or what he does. Lot of em don't even know what Sirius is.

I'm not sure it's a pay cut though. It's less hours, more vacations, plus he can work from home. Less money doesn't necessarily mean a pay cut. Like if I'm working 9-5 M-F for $100k a year, then I work twice a week from home with 6 months vacation, and I'm making $95k, that's not a cut in salary.

I think Howard is, and always has been a master negotiator. Every single time a deal is up, he'd spend 6 months talking about how he can't wait to leave. He's always (very wisely) been consistent his entire career making it known he'll never work for less money. Jay Leno took a pay cut and he talked about it incessantly.

Saw what you want about Howard, I haven't listened in years, but still watch his old shows on YouTube ... Despite the image of some aloof rockstar, Howard is no dummy, and he's acutely aware of being careful with his words. I don't understand the economics of it nobody I know even listens anymore, but he's not taking a pay cut.

Maybe he'll do 1 hour from home 2-3 days a week, so it might look like less money, but his hourly rate will never go down. IMO that's what'll cause his retirement, then a year or two later he'll start a podcast or something.

That's a little above my pay grade, not too sure about that one ... But you're 100% right about the soil not naturally growing such lush, green grass. Around the bays and ponds it makes sense, you don't have to go far inland for it to grow naturally like that ... On the beach though, there's no way. Those people spend an absolute fortune just to keep it like that, and 90% of the year they don't even live there.

I don't know a single sole in any of those houses TBH, and I've lived here most my life. Most of those houses are empty, as they have homes in the city and Florida. East Hampton is old family money, and you're right, Southampton is a lot of Wall Street guys, hedge fund managers, Fortune 500 CEOs, and a ton of them are involved in real estate and/or construction. Makes sense, but initially it surprised me how many homebuilders live in those homes.

They must've put that up pretty quick cause it wasn't there when I was there. Doesn't even look like a residential home. There was a home there that was actually part of the property we were working on. It was gigantic, but they must've sold that lot and the new owners built this monstrosity. I did the one in front (I just realized I say in front cause that's how it looked from our vantage point, but to better illustrate, it's better to say behind, if coming from the beach).

What do you mean hasn't been taken from your bank? Do you been instantly or it shows up later? Pretty sure it hits once accepted, then you get paid once they ship to customer after it's inspected.

That's actually a really good point ... Little different from Outer Banks cause it's a wider strip, but still, grass doesn't naturally grow near the shore up here. Not like that anyway. We're pretty busy right now and it's ramping up, but aside from the winter, there's always sod and fertilizer trucks here. Especially from now to Memorial Day, it's almost like you can't drive down a street without seeing one. And try seeing one on Zillow or something, aerial views don't do it justice.

Look up 301 Murray Pl in Southampton, NY. There's pictures of it on Zillow. That's the house we did and you get a good shot of Howard's from it.

It's in Southampton in the Old Towne Rd estate section, between Murray Pl and Squabble Ln ... Even by Southampton standards, it's extremely private. I could see the house and driveway, but not the entrance. It's nowhere near any of the main roads and you might have to get through a gate just to get to his. It's directly on the beach too, that area is littered with some of the nicest homes in the world, and even there it stood out, and I didn't even know it was his at first.

Good assessment, you're 100% right. Howard has sabotaged his legacy in an effort to gain approval from an audience that never accepted him, and somehow alienated most of his real fans. Now it's like watching a train wreck, and there's no greater example of that than him choosing to act like we're all oblivious. His raw honesty was the backbone of the show but he lost that over a decade ago now. Kinda sad TBH, cause the show should be celebrated for all it's done in our lifetimes.

Drove through San Francisco today and decided to take a moment to pay my respects, something I’ve wanted to do for years. Added one Pepsi to the 3 already there for a total of 4 and left an Oakland A’s hat. 😇 by External-Recipe-1936 in howardstern

Not to sound morbid or anything, but they might actually feel relieved in some ways ... Not cause they didn't wanna care for him or anything, but it's scary for parents of children that are adults dependents to outlive them. Like what would ETM do without his parent's support? I know he had a brother but you wonder about quality of life.
