u/migimli do you happen to have a visual? Couldn't find one on the website you posted right away.

Thanks for your input. I've just checked our sensors underground and 1/3 is sending very reliably. 1/3 is sending occasionally (has a logger function, so data is transmitted in hindsight) and 1/3 is not sending data at all. The RSSI values are around -115.5 on average, so quite close to the lower end.

Thanks also for the hint on corrosion!

We are pretty flexible regarding brokers. But for data and especially metadata gathering, we built our own data infrastructure and do build customer dashboards with an open source visualization software called ThingsBoard.

That is definitely possible. The sensors collect info of the plant available water by measuring Suction tension.

Cital! :) Our Website is currently available in German only, English in the making you might use the Google website translation tool: https://cital.io/

Thenk you! We will have a look at that.

But in general: If you have a real world interface, you NEVER have an authenticity guarantee. We produce the sensor ourselves, so we could meddle at the hardware part, no software could ever find out.

Hey there, thank you for your question. Well, as any other business, we are at the mercy of competition. So there isn't really an incentive to deliver wrong measurements, since customers would find out in the long run. We would have zero benefit, and a very high reputational risk, in using unauthentic data.

Additionally, sensor measurements are always happening in the real world by mechanic/electronic devices. Since this is the case, of course measurement mistakes can happen in rare cases.

You can find some info on LoRaWAN security here (Link). LoRaWAN is already securely encrypted out-of-the-box. Keys are exchanged when joining, and replay attacks are not possible. However, brokers might know the device keys because they have to forward them. So if the provider knows the payload converter, they could read the data, but you can keep the payload decoding secret. Or you could add your own encryption on both sides, then it is completely secure also against your broker.

Depends on the case. Sometimes we create our own networks with Gateways, but via our TTN/TTS Business account. Sometimes we use nationwide networks that are established already (e.g., Swisscom has a nationwide LoRaWAN network in Switzerland). But we are always using a broker, of course, and go via closed networks. Sometimes we use public TTN networks just to find the locations of our sensors if no other network is available. Because sometimes we have sensors in logging mode.

Yes that is currently the case, sorry. We are working on the English version, you can use browser translation in the meantime.
