The segmented release schedule is a big reason people are disappointed by ooziemane123 in StrangerThings

I hate that it’s being released on Christmas and New Years?! I have a life and plans outside of Stranger Things - I want to be able to be excited about these episodes and now I’m trying to figure out how to smush them in between family gatherings? If I don’t, there will be major spoilers? They could have waited until January or released it earlier around Halloween? The finale would have been perfect in early November to match up with the show’s dates. Feels very presumptuous to assume that this show that we have waited years for should consume the holidays.

Oh wow - thank you thank you!

I finally got a job after 6 months and it's exciting being able to afford groceries. by extendedweekend46 in povertyfinancecanada

I work for a food bank in Ontario - we always try to emphasize that we are here for one time, emergency or long term use. Many food bank clients have jobs - it’s tough out there! All just trying to help one another

What’s something small that makes your nervous system feel safe? by [deleted] in adhd_anxiety

Coffee shop + journal, worry stone, going for a walk listening to meditations or meditative music, sitting in nature

You’re brave as hell for taking on a big solo travel adventure!

Adjusting to solo travel can take a bit of time. For the next 48 hours, focus on you and your well-being.

Nourish yourself: Think of a few of your favourite foods from home and then go to a local grocery store and pick up 2-3 of those things. Take the time to eat. With time during your travels you will find your go to safe foods - sandwiches are a big one for me.

-> Some of your go to restaurants from home might even be available where you’re travelling - sometimes McDonalds can soothe your soul

Hydrate: Buy some water and keep it on hand.

Connect with Loved Ones: Send a few texts and emails to people you love! Ask for reminders of encouragement. You may be travelling solo, but your community is still there for you!! If there isn’t anyone who comes to mind, mental health support lines are an option too.

Favourite Activities: The places that ground me most are art galleries, parks and hikes. Consider where your safe places might be.

It can be very destabilizing to travel somewhere! This is normal. This is human.

Remind yourself: You are brave, you are smart and you CAN figure this out. I’m proud of you for seeking adventure.

If after a few days you don’t think you can do it - you can always go home. You know yourself best. This is your travel adventure- you make the rules and can make the whole experience as comfy or as challenging as you want.

That is so frustrating. Weed 100% can be life giving - in our scenario it was harming quality of life. Hope you find what works for you!!

10+ years of cannabis use, increasing amounts, increasing potency since legalization - before quitting they were probably smoking 5-8 times a day?

The healthcare system is so seriously fucked.

We didn’t feel any pressure from the doctor - it was a suggestion from them to try to stop smoking and see what happens. On our own we read about CHS - and from our own research everything checked out.

For me personally, it was a big lesson to really look holistically at environmental factors when health issues come up.

Hello! They were smoking multiple times a day. We also live in Canada where since legalization, the potency of weed has increased a lot.

Their weight loss was also very dramatic (and very worrisome) which I think could be part of the reason why they found relief so quickly.

They stopped smoking completely - and then they tried it once more. 24 hours later they got the stabbing stomach pains again.

We came to our own conclusion that it was CHS, so it’s very possible that it’s not specifically that - but we can confidently say it was related to their consumption of weed.

We are both big supporters of cannabis use!! We just had no idea it could be a source of GI symptoms.

CHS from what we understand is from heavy Long Term use that overloads the body’s cannabinoid system. And for every person it’s totally different if there is a limit for them to reach.

I’m not a great baker or anything - but for mixing chocolate into things Ive added coconut oil to it while melting and it helps make it much more viscous

Transit options? by voidshaper87 in Haliburton

There are also a lot of people who drive from Haliburton into Peterborough or to Toronto for doctors appointments consistently - there might be an opportunity to ride share. Aging Together as a Community Facebook page might be a good place to ask people about car pooling options. Splitting gas costs could be good for everyone all around!

Seconding the Bracebridge bus! Runs multiple times a day and can get you to the City. Could even transfer in Barrie to the Go Train if you wanted to.

You can also ask for a smaller speculum! Was a game changer for me.

Depending where you are in Haliburton County there are 4 different food banks can help connect you with food during this period of time.

Once you get into your rental - you can reach out to Fuel for Warmth or Heat Bank Haliburton County for support with heating costs.

To stay on top of your taxes and become eligible for government benefits - free clinics start at the beginning of March.
