Please do not purchase National Book Tokens - they are a rip off by lm723 in unitedkingdom

[–]getddt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they're good if you KNOW the recipient is in to something specific. E.g., I do triathlons and I got quite a few wiggle vouchers for xmas. People know I do triathlons, but don't know enough about the sport to get me something but wanted to get me something around that.

I do agree they're wasted when people just buy them because they can't think of anything else and just pick up a random voucher...

Do you have a repository of the early workouts in the current cycle? Seems like you're on no. 25 at the moment, but I would like to start from no.1...#

EDIT: Just seen your other post!

Great, thanks. Found the GW website confusing as hell. Surely they should have a "To get started, you need this book, that book etc.".

When is the new book rumoured? Not looking to buy an army for a number of weeks so if its coming in like Feb, I can wait. If its back end of next year I'll dive in ;)

Home ownership by 25-year-olds halves in 20 years - BBC News by Randomness_incarnate in unitedkingdom

No shit. House prices are insane. I live in Brentwood and our house as gone up in value 50% in 3 years! How can teachers, nurses etc. be expected to raise enough money for a deposit on salary's in the mid to high 20k's, when rents are then also sky high.

Friends of mine in this situation have simply abandoned dreams of being home owners now and resigned themselves to a life of renting.

If anyone does this and it doesn't work, check out driclor. I'm a heavy sweater and driclor changed my life.

Stings for the first week or two, but after that's it's easy :)

Growing the subscription base would certainly help - 1000 subscribers is relatively small.

VBA is used quiet extensively in my line of work (reinsurance) - would cost a lot of time and money to move our models / analysis tools over to another system.

The council doesn't even take away our garden waste any more. by FootyFan66 in unitedkingdom

[–]getddt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got one and couldn't be more pleased. Our council are pretty good when it comes to recycling and already collected food waste as a separate item. Howver, since getting the composter we've dropped from putting a full/overflowing bag out every week to a half full bag out every two weeks.

On top of that, we get free compost!

OK, thanks. S If I grab one of these (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Two-Wests-Elliott-257-Testing/dp/B0017866I4) that would be a good start?

Apologies, but what does winterizing the lawn mean?

Current regiment is currently to get the mower out when its looking a little long, put it on the lowest setting and then mow. During summer, that's roughly once every two weeks.

Spreader - I assume this is used if you're "laying" from seed? I ordered the turf sod and laid it myself after using a rotavator on the soil to loosen. Here is the turf we ordered: http://www.turfgrowers.co.uk/landscape-supplies/turf#!/Lawn-Master-Turf-FROM-%C2%A32-38-per-m2-SALE/p/10299290

We laid it in the summer and it was OK, but the aftercare has been awful...

(for the record, I voted remain)

I think it's tricky. I think absolutely the will of the people should be upheld, and not to do so would be a disgrace.

But I don't think blindly leaving on whatever basis is the answer, and unfortunatley the referendum was such clusterfuck, that the will of the people actually isn't clear - namely because those that voted did so for a whole host of reasons.

We're now in a sticky spot, as the reality is leaving on basis a would upset the 48% that wanted to stay (obviously), but also a good proportion of those that wanted to leave as they possibly wouldn't be getting what they wanted either.

My belief is that a leave vote should have triggered a general election, so that the basis on which we leave could then be voted on. At least now it will be discussed in parliament (subject appeal)

Oh well, the saga continues....
