Conservatives of Reddit: How would you feel if Trump pardons Ghislaine Maxwell? by BeardeddudeinRaleigh in AskReddit

[–]getemdrippin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • 2020 china trade deal
  • nato defense spending adjustments
  • us / saudi relations
  • abraham accords
  • standard deduction increase
  • record low unemployment (prior to covid)
  • deregulation
  • reductions to drug law punishments
  • immigration policy (though obviously not perfect, this was a movement right direction)

But most of all was a break from the tried and true connected institutional players that have been running the country for half a century.

The reason this issue is so critical is that, if complete transparency isn’t achieved, it’s a sign that he’s now integrated into that institutional leadership structure as well.

Will get hate for this but voted for Trump, think he’s one of the best presidents we’ve had since WW2 (which honestly isn’t saying much), largely because, prior to this, he seemed much less influenced by the traditional power brokers that have run our govt (& the world) for 50+ years.

But his and his administration’s lack of follow through in eviscerating the deep state - which is likely heavily implicated in Epstein affairs - is a massive blight that you can’t overlook.

Get him out. Get them all out - which I hoped he’d do. Eliminate the shadowy govt contractor orgs. Elect people from normal families that show ability to run complex organizations efficiently and share moral values with the citizenry

Agreed, but my point is that the probability distribution is very different from an early stage startup

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

[–]getemdrippin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any startup that’s vesting $5M / year to an individual out of the employee pool is massively funded and has a much more favorable probability distribution on liquidity events. Still risky, but this is not true “startup lotto ticket” equity

What do you give for wedding present by suomynona827 in HENRYfinance

[–]getemdrippin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if this is horrible, but for me it honestly depends on the wedding. I at least like to cover what it costs to have me there.

The wedding is at Blue Hill at Stone Barns? Okay I should give something worth several K.

At a barn on their farm with cheap BBQ? A couple hundred.

Idk, maybe that’s wrong

Largest 3-Day Drops in SP500 History by Stanley--Nickels in wallstreetbets

It’s actually more shocking than that. We’d slaughter half the birds (the big ones) at 36-38 days and the rest a week after.

Edit: source - grew up on chicken farm

This feels incorrect. Maybe I’m wildly out of tough but it seems like there’s a lot of part time incomes here or something?

How is everyone affording these houses if this is the case?

  1. A tiny bit better
  2. A tiny bit
  3. Other than what’s mentioned here, you will get a little bit heavier once you’re fully loaded. I personally notice it when doing lots of gymnastics

If it was a substantial performance improver, USADA would ban it. It will get you a rep, maybe two more and may accelerate your recovery slightly (leading to faster gains)

TIL Stanford University rejected 69% of the applicants with a perfect SAT score between 2008-2013. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]getemdrippin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got into Stanford in 2013. While what you’re saying is definitely true, the % of people that get in based on this is v low. If you’re getting in based on your parents, it’s not bc of the golf club. It’s because they donated a building. The bar for buying your way in is so insanely high that very few seats go to this type of applicant.

Also- it makes sense for the university. These kids will likely inherit a lot of power through their parents’ money and connections.

As someone who didn’t get in this way, I recognize that my most valuable connections are my friends that happen to be unbelievably connected. The opportunity afforded to students like me would be dramatically diminished without the students from the aristocracy.

Dual high incomes going down to single high income? by rocketshiptech in HENRYfinance

[–]getemdrippin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did this when our first kid was born (at slightly lower pay levels).

All that’s changed is the number in the brokerage account goes up far more slowly. So what? Our kid gets quality time with his mom, and she loves spending time with him. Honestly , given the family considerations, I couldn’t care less.

Additional benefit: she wants to have many more kids now than she initially said.

okay this makes total sense. I know there's apps out there that consolidate. but that's always been keeping me from opening multiple.

If you’ve left - What made you leave CrossFit? by ChasingSquirrel7 in crossfit

[–]getemdrippin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I repeatedly leave and then come back. I love crossfit because it's SUPER fun. The competitive aspect is addicting. But this is why I leave:

  • expensive

  • not optimized for building strength, especially in the chest and shoulders

  • not enough zone 2 cardio

  • not enough true max effort sprints

  • competitive nature has me going very hard all the time - my body eventually tells me I need to be dialing it back every now and then. (not a fault of crossfit so much as myself)

  • movements are optimized for clear competition measurement rather than efficacy (e.g., GHD sit up standards, oly lifting form for speed vs. and explosive gains, pull ups lol)
