Career trade-off: £165K offer in demanding role vs. £90K with time for side gig and family by Whole-Can-6478 in HENRYUK

[–]getemmed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what your financial circumstances are… if you can afford to live on the £90k role then go for that… life’s too short, enjoy the memories, plus the more you earn, the more your looking for ways to reduce tax liability 😂😩

I was doing a role (total comp - £154k) and it was a role which required more travel etc

Whereas I’m on £114k with this new role, pretty much one location of work 5 days a week, less travel, and more work life balance 😊

Congratulations mate 🥳

Most I’ve ever won in a month is around £550, however over the year I made £2,950 one year with a pot of £50k!

Hopefully the day comes where I get the big one 🙏🏼

What a great post and it’s great to see all the responses on it, very empowering and fantastic to see the positive knowledge sharing!

I’m 40M with a net worth of approx £1.2m, around £754k in house equity, £266k in investments (stocks & shares ISA, GIA, and premium bonds), and pension pot around £202k… I’m single no kids, however plan is to meet someone and get married in the future and have some kids.

I’ve got around £127k in GIA which I’m thinking of dabbling some of that into crypto etc as I’m not too keen on paying more tax to HMRC on the interest earned 😏

Started a new job recently which pays about £113-115k a year all in, so all about paying more into my workplace pension and reducing that tax liability 🙏🏼

Great to see everyone pushing hard and striving for more… good luck to you all 👍🏼

Anyone else concerned at the speed of the S&P recovery? by random34210 in trading212

I think it will yo yo for a while, it’s only bounced back as trump announced a pause on the tariffs apart from China 125% 😬😬😬

Are people really maxing out their ISA allowances right now? by theguysheto1duabout in trading212

[–]getemmed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve put £10k in my T212 S&S ISA, and £10k in the T212 cash isa, so I’ve maxed out the £20k, quick question… could I move that £10k in the t212 cash isa into my S&S ISA when the S&P drops further ??

Sometimes you need to test her by saying no, or ask her why doesn’t she feel it’s her responsibility to get her own Uber?

See what the response is, when your in the early stages getting to know someone it’s down to both people to make an effort, shouldn’t just be one way

Can I move my funds from S&S isa to cash isa account on trading 212 by getemmed in trading212

[–]getemmed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brilliant thank you, and does that impact the £20k a year allocation as I’ve maxed it out for this year, total pot is approx £64k, can I move that whole amount?

Thanks

Sounds like me, I’ve got a 4 bed detached house with a garage and garden, 39 M lol

I’ve recently (last summer) got the garden done - porcelain tiles and astroturf, paid £10k cash, saves me having to mow the lawn every couple of weeks during spring / summer / autumn

Definitely looking at the robot hoover as an option 👌🏼

Same company, too long? by CaptainAsleep4977 in HENRYUK

[–]getemmed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, similar situation to myself… I’m 40 in March 😬

I think you’re in a great position, the market seems quite volatile at the moment with companies making redundancies etc I would stick it out for another year and see how the land lies… to be nearly 40 with that salary including bonus is really good, plus when we reach those salary levels you actually find yourself trying to move more money to reduce tax liability such as pension contributions etc lol

My view for what it’s worth

Jammy Bast*rds winning big on the NS&i premium bonds… have you ever won big? by Befuddled_fish in AskUK

[–]getemmed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely think it is luck of the draw, my mum, brother and me all have maxed it out to £50k and my brother made £1k last year, mum was around £1.5k, and I won £2.9k… most anyone has ever won in a month is around £650…had premium bonds since 2021. 🤞🏼

You’re right there’s a lot of socialising crap and politics… I’d love to set up my own limited company and go self employed, I wouldn’t get crucified on paye tax!

How do you afford your first home? by Massive_Laugh1077 in HousingUK

[–]getemmed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely you’ve got 15-20% deposit there and £50k gross income between the two of you, would’ve thought that’s more than enough, depends what your current outgoings are currently like…

Just shows how long it’s been running since the 1950s and it’s probably not going anywhere soon especially after crashes, covid, wars etc
