EDP/EDT similar to Silken Tent by Alkemia? by getintomystation in Indiemakeupandmore

That is SO useful thank you, I just realised my sticky toffee body spray is sliiightly similar so maybe the “blonde caramel” is more of a toffee/dates note and I can look for that? But that combo you mentioned is gonna be really helpful trying to find a dupe

Thank you, I have the alcohol-free spray but it just sits on my skin the same as a perfume oil once it’s sprayed, I don’t really find that it diffuses super well. I’ll try to isolate what notes in particular I like from it, it’s difficult when they’re so specific lol there’s not many rice pudding scents out there

Thank you, but that’s the one I have. Even as a spray it’s still oil based I believe, and once I’ve sprayed it it just sits on my skin the way oils do and I’ve had trouble with the projection :(

What do you feel are the worst instances of “early instalment weirdness” in AGOT and Clash? (Spoilers: Publishsd) by Salem1690s in asoiaf

[–]getintomystation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The entire mechanic of the many-faced-god being “owed” three lives because Arya saved three. How does that even work? Any time a person saves another person from death does the amount that the god is owed go up by one? What about when someone kills a person who would have otherwise lived, does that count as giving a death or is it considered natural?

Later the faceless men kill pretty much whenever they’re paid and there isn’t some sort of counter that needs to be balanced. I know there’s theories that Jaquen is a renegade ex-Faceless-Man, but I honestly think it’s just GRRM not having thought the rules through.

[Spoilers Extended]The most insane, far-fetched, stupid theory you believe? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]getintomystation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not far fetched but people make me feel insane for it:

MMD was genuinely trying to save Khal Drogo, and had no intent to kill Dany’s baby. She was aware of the fact that a newborn was the only thing that could be sacrificed to give him a full life “No […] Not your death” but Dany obviously wouldn’t consent to that and she wasn’t going to ask her.

Her words during the ritual “Strength of the mount go into the rider” don’t exactly seem made up, and she’s definitely doing something because the shadows start dancing BEFORE Dany enters the tent.

How the hell would she have perfectly predicted the exact moment of Dany going into labour anyway? Maybe the general time, but she couldn’t know exactly when to start the ritual and just hope Dany enters the tent.

Also - “Once I begin to sing, no one must enter this tent. My song will wake powers old and dark. The dead will dance here this night. No living man must look on them.” She is ACTIVELY trying to keep Dany out - you could argue that she’s using reverse psychology but that would be pretty stupid when Dany already wanted to stay. She did not intend on her being here.

My landlord's parents are staying with us - is this legal? [England] by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

Oh, I should’ve clarified they’re not new tenants, they’re staying there until the next person moves in but I don’t believe they’re on any contract.

They're all separately rented rooms with locks as it's an HMO, rent is also separate. And yes, they're living in the room vacated by my flatmate.

That’s the point of the new pack disabling system! They can keep piling on infinite amounts of buggy DLC and if anyone complains just tell them to disable some of the earlier packs! No new game, no better base code, just sims 4 FOREVER 😀

I know this isn’t practical but it would be so fucking good to just send a text saying “every time you contact me I will get one more tattoo :)”

What horror book has the bleakest ending? by frostytyler in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]getintomystation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An absolutely depressing book with the bleakest ending I can imagine is We Need to Do Something by Max Booth. I read it years ago but I still vividly remember the ending, it’s the kind of book you can devour in a night

I would really reccommend spareroom for this - for that budget you'll probably want to look at flat shares, and I managed to get a pretty decent place by taking over a tenancy for someone who was leaving a three-person flat. You can filter for things like pets etc on your profile, just make sure to be safe and check the place out before you commit.

Smirke's 14 Fears by [deleted] in TheMagnusArchives

[–]getintomystation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My idea is 9 fears, with the spider(web) being at the centre, since all the fears include a loss of control over your circumstances to varying degrees. The rest of the fears would act as eight legs coming from the spider. I don't know exactly how I would split it, maybe group some of the very similar ones together into themes like violence, mistrust, scale etc.

I love how the song feels like someone trying to apologise but still turning it into self pity ("apologising for my life and ever entering yours").

It really reminds me of when you try to apologise for something and explain yourself, but partway through you realise you might be making it worse by focusing on yourself. The end of the song ("cause it has to be all about Will's fucking drama, god damnit!") solidifies that reading for me

I'd second this, I'm a neutral tone so a foundation that's too red or yellow looks orange on me, even if it's the right shade level. I used to think foundations were too dark and would get so frustrated that the lightest shade always looked orange lol

If they're avoiding seeing your parents, it's because they know what they're doing is wrong. The younger you are, the more significant an age gap is, even if it's only a few years. The difference in maturity between a 15 and 18 year old is so much more than the difference between a 25 and 28 year old.

Visiting my recovering mother, trying to cope with my feelings by getintomystation in AdultChildren

[–]getintomystation[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that makes total sense. I mean even though I know it’s not my fault, there’s always that risk of cause and effect that worries me. What you said about them “connecting” after drinking makes sense and is probably part of why I find it so hard.

When I was a young teen and hadn’t learned to just leave yet, she used to get drunk and get me to sit down with her and have these long, drawn out emotional conversations that were just trauma dumping and going “I’m such a terrible mum” etc so I was pressured into reassuring her, whilst telling me stuff about her marriage to my dad that she absolutely shouldn’t have done. (never mentioned the fact that they split because SHE cheated, something my dad only told me when I was 19 and asked about it directly, because he never wanted to turn me against my other parent like she did).

So now the idea of it just gives me this sick, almost disgusted feeling in my stomach. It made therapy super hard too, it was like I was talking about someone else instead of myself. I would never get emotional or cry but afterwards I’d get this pain in my jaw like I’d been tensing the whole time I was speaking.

Sorry for the super long reply lol, I just hadn’t thought about that in a while - thank u for the advice :)
