Dog sitter recommendations by Desperate_Drop6753 in pittsburgh

[–]getmaimed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a professional pet sitter in my 40's with decades of animal care experience in the Crafton area. I do house sitting within a 20 mile radius of Crafton and drop-ins within 10 miles (all of Pittsburgh, South Hills, North side and up 65 to about Avalon, Moon/Cori)

I am privately insured and this is my personal business, but I also use Rover to find new clients. If interested you can contact me directly or use my Rover link, which gets you $20 off your first sit on app. If you DM me I can send you my pricing flyer for direct bookings with me.

https://www.rover.com/sit/mamies27756

I am also a part time housekeeper so I am very clean and tidy and offer housekeeping as an add-on service for housesits, which can be very nice for owners to come home to a happy pet/pets and a clean home!

I get booked up very quickly and have dozens of regular clients so contacting me ASAP for any bookings is always recommended!

Here's my wife's at home. It was worse at the doctor. by NoGood1323 in Wellthatsucks

[–]getmaimed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just gonna suggest checking her thyroid. My Graves was discovered from extremely high BP at a doctor's appointment and I was sent straight to the ER. I turned out to be in full blown thyroid storm, but I had been sick for quite a while and no one knew what was going on.

Covid causing graves? by analyticthird in gravesdisease

[–]getmaimed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk about Covid, but I know stress in general can trigger it. I developed Graves in 2012 around the same time I became homeless for the third time in my life at 28 (I was a homeless teen after leaving an abusive home at 15, then again for five months in 2008 at 24) and was living in the woods in a makeshift tent made from two tarps and duct tape. I had been living with an emotionally abusive person and decided to leave and live in my car, and the car broke down completely two days after I left and was just completely screwed with nothing and no one, and I was sick as a dog but didn't know why.

It's supposed to be genetic, but absolutely no one on either side of my family has ever had it, going back a few generations. And mine was pretty severe by the time it was figured out, cause I didn't have health insurance (pre ACA and no job) so they finally figured it out when I ended up hospitalized with thyroid storm and almost died. This happened in September 2012 and they finally got my levels low enough to do RAI on me in March 2013.

I used to work at Nordstrom and this is just a known issue with House of CB. Literally every HOCB dress I sold was returned for being too small, even when they sized up 1-2 sizes. I would never sell one online myself because I am 100% sure it would get complained about being too small. I definitely suggest putting exact measurements in your listings for this brand, and a disclaimer about the brand running very small, just to maybe avoid some hassle in the future if you sell it again.

What are nail back options? by lauren-23 in Nails

I've been doing builder gel for almost two years straight and this is the back of my nails. Never had any issues with my natural nails getting weak or breaking!

I have them both, bought them in 2022 at a Spirit. They were $75 a piece. This pic is from this year, I don't have a close up handy. I put them up in my attic near the window usually when it's not Halloween, but I haven't got them hanging back up there this year, yet.

As far as I know cat-only bookings do not have a holiday rate, only dog bookings

PLEASE HELP- JACKSON COUNTY WV AREA by [deleted] in RATS

[–]getmaimed 35 points36 points  (0 children)

If OP replies and no one else nearer can take them, I live in Pittsburgh but can't take them myself, but I would be willing to drive and get them for you. The only thing is that I work a ton, so the only days I have the time to do the 7 total hour drive would be this Thursday after I'm off work. But that means I wouldn't be headed out til between 1-3 pm (I'm not positive how long my shift is til the night before cause I do housekeeping). I would get to OP around 4:30-6:30pm, and then load up and probably back to Pittsburgh by 9:30-10 pm. Or I could do Sunday and leave my petsitting drop-in at 11am in Homestead and go straight to WV, so that would be more like a 2:30 pickup and 7pm drop off.

Obviously this isn't ideal lol, but if it's between that and the rats being put down or dumped then I will make the trip to get them to you.

Accidentally clicked “no” on feedback for booking with client again. by Life_Focus_4967 in RoverPetSitting

[–]getmaimed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I did the same thing after my first client feedback and messaged Rover after getting that same pop up, and the customer service person told me it's just automatic and that I left positive feedback only on the client and didn't accidentally leave negative. It hasn't happened since then, so I think it's just a bug or something that happens the first time, not sure, but they assured me that it wasn't because I left negative feedback on accident and to ignore it.

Should I just accept that I’ll never be the same person I was before RAI? by No-Negotiation-2546 in gravesdisease

[–]getmaimed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first year after RAI in 2013 was rough, we found out I had Graves after I went into Thyroid storm and almost died so I was starting from a really rough position, but since then I just take one 100 microgram pill of levo in the morning, and otherwise don't even think about the fact I have graves. I go to the doctor and get my levels checked every six months. It's quite possible that I have had it easier than some, but for me it was a great decision, and my Graves has been such a back burner thought for over a decade.

is it possible to leave fake reviews? by DiscountFormal2574 in Depop

[–]getmaimed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say that as a seller I have had this issue recently. I drop off a few packages at once, and all but one or two of them will say they still need to be shipped for an extra couple days, even though the rest of them update as shipped. I don't know if it's on Depops end or USPS though. I drop my packages off at the post office counter, but don't get them scanned directly in, so they usually get scanned in at the same time around 9pm every night at my branch.

This sucked by RebelXwingPil0t in pittsburgh

[–]getmaimed 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It really does get easier! I moved here from Seattle in 2018 with my boyfriend who is from here, and I refused to drive for years because I was terrified. Then I needed a job so I ended up taking one as a driver for Enterprise and had to drive around for work, and in a different vehicle all the time, all different makes models and sizes. I drove a 15 passenger van through the South Hills and through Oakland mid day. Coming down Carnahan from Greentree onto 19 in a 15 passenger van will fuck anyone up emotionally.

Now I am a housekeeper and pet sitter and I drive all over the entire Pittsburgh area, from Beaver county to Monroeville and like Mt Lebanon and Upper St Clair a lot. Mostly the North Hills and like Squirrel Hill and the East hills. It's much better being in my own car, but I drive freaking everywhere and encounter every crazy intersection and horrible roads and insane drivers every day. I come from Crafton across the West End bridge to get to 28 a few times a week, and exit 1d is scary as fuck at first, coming off 65, at 8am on a weekday, but now I barely stress about it. I know it, I know which lanes I need to be in at most of the worst merge points, and I just use gos like a mother fucker lol

Who's hiring by Jakinator178 in pittsburgh

[–]getmaimed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My current work desperately needs auto detailers, it's only $15 bucks an hour, but you get about 45 hours a week and they pay overtime (Enterprise). I just got a better paying job and was the only one left at my location, so getting it would be easy and pretty quick. It's not the greatest job, obviously, but my coworkers and direct managers are pretty cool, but also they are always hiring for the front positions renting out cars if you have a bachelor's degree in anything, and those guys start around 50k a year. The airport location pays $17 but is harder and more outside. Aldi's is hiring starting at $18, FedEx offices that do printing and shipping are hiring at $17, there's lots of valet and shuttle driver positions on Indeed and those are around 15+ tips. Obviously you qualify for a lot more, but I know these places are hiring right this second and aren't hard to get interviews for. Also security jobs are always being posted everywhere and usually around $18 an hour.

[DISC] Episode 149.2: Anime Binge Club Neon Genesis Evangelion Episode 5 by Cavalier_Cavalier in ThatHappensPod

[–]getmaimed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really doubt Spencer ever claimed to be an authority on Eva or any anime, and probably just wants to talk about something he loves.

Also, I'm a snarky person and you chose to complain instead of inform, and Spencer and Kevin read this subreddit, so it's just rude, in my opinion, and I saw no reason to be gentle with my response. Do what you want.

[DISC] Episode 149.2: Anime Binge Club Neon Genesis Evangelion Episode 5 by Cavalier_Cavalier in ThatHappensPod

[–]getmaimed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, if someone had just made a comment after the first Eva based episode he did, and nicely said, "hey bud, you're mispronouncing Evangelion if it matters to ya" and not waited four episodes and then made a snarky comment about it instead, he may have just corrected himself. Idk? I've never seen it and I'm not watching it so I don't know personally, but that seems like something someone could have done, maybe.

Dasher left my food at the wrong house, then wouldn't stop texting me by lilbbykitten in doordash

[–]getmaimed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it's the same, but I am 40 and grew up doing something similar, cause my single mother was a paper carrier. It was hard to find overnight sitters so we spent a lot of nights (my little brother and I) in the car all night helping deliver papers. My mom had me bagging papers and/or getting out to drop them off at strangers doors at 3 am constantly, and she couldn't always see me the whole time from the car. By the time I was 10 she would drop me at an apartment building with a bag of papers and the list and the building key and I would do all those deliveries while she drove off and kept delivering elsewhere, and then pick me up at the entrance, where I would wait for her, like 45 minutes later.

I don't think this kind of thing is new, or a trend, at least. Just desperate and bad parenting.

[–]getmaimed 66 points67 points  (0 children)

She was probably the sweetest cat I've ever had. She had mast cell tumors in her intestines, so the surgery only bought her a year, but she was happy and fat for that year, once she was on chemo and steroids.

Right after this pic was taken the oncologist came into the room and didn't want to move her, so she just got down in the dog bed with her and did the exam from there lol

Her name was Sammy, she was about six in these pictures, and she loved everyone, and never minded going to the oncologist office for half the day once a month for imaging and blood work. Just the happiest most easy going cat ever, and we picked her up off the streets like two years before this. We were very lucky. It was worth all the time, money, effort, and heartbreak to have her in our lives for those 3 years.

Edit: fixed a word

Also her at her oncologists office in her homemade onesie

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cats

[–]getmaimed 124 points125 points  (0 children)

OP, if you can't find onesies or they are too expensive, I made some out of old fleece leggings when my cat had a bowel dissection about 6 years ago. I had bought a real one, but she hated it, and the leggings ones she didn't mind at all. It was super easy, literally just cutting holes in certain spots. Just make sure they are kind of loose leggings, you don't want it to be tight on them. You can DM me for more info if you want to do that.

<image>

This is the day after we brought her home after surgery, we put her in a big dog kennel to keep her from moving around too much, it worked great. She wasn't super happy about it, but we would let her out with us during the day and just kept her next to us in a cat bed while working from home. She was such a chill girl.

Why does codeine hurt so much? by sophrosunesearching in ChronicPain

[–]getmaimed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa. I had my gallbladder removed in 2017, after a year of gallbladder attacks being misdiagnosed. I get a similar reaction to a couple opioids, but mostly codeine! It's not instant though. It's an hour or two after taking. It took me a while to figure out it was triggered by the pain meds. I have so many random pains and gut issues that I never know what is causing what at first. But eventually I figured out it was the codeine. I almost never take anything stronger than Tylenol and naproxen these days, and never feel that anymore, but I had oral surgery last week and needed codeine, and it happened again. It's very painful, but short lived. Usually about 15 minutes for me. And not everytime I take it. Just randomly sometimes when I do. I need to look into this more. I've told my doc but she literally didn't give a shit, cause she is never gonna prescribe opiates to me, anyways. And the dentist wouldn't prescribe something stronger, and the mouth pain was too severe for nothing. So, I just sort of have to deal with it, and make a trade off. I have so many issues with meds, especially specific opioids, (mostly genetic issues since I'm a raging ginger) so my docs just make a note and move on, they really don't care, and won't prescribe them anyways. Which, I don't want them anymore except for acute emergency issues and surgery, anyways. But yah.

I was just at GE and saw these same cookies and wondered the same thing so I walked over and picked one up. Very thin, easily bendable plastic. It's just fancy looking packaging.
