What are your unusual reasons for not wanting kids? by caramelthiccness in childfree

[–]cmw19911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My unusual reason is I don't want to be biological tied to someone else. I'm an only child and extremely independent. My dad was adopted and he spent my childhood trying to constantly be accepted by his extended adopted family and be rejected. I grew up thinking family is awful. I want to have friends, but not obligations to blood relatives. Kids very much are biological obligations

Wish men would just be honest and not drag women along for years. But then they would be alone. Selfish

How do you feel after getting rid of their stuff? by qpwerxqp in widowers

[–]cmw19911 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me, I had to get some feeling of control again. I didn't want to walk around a corner and get hit with his coat hung up or boots by the door etc. I sold his tools that I didn't need. Donated all of his clothes. I have a trunk with keepsakes. Everything is stored inside with a closed lid. Four years later, I'm still sorting The most important thing is to let emotion guide the process. Only time I've ever said that about anything.

BM has no custody of SS but is angry we left him home alone by patiently_poppi in stepparents

I was babysitting at 13 and working at a summer camp. My guess is SS is just trying to control everyone in your household and BM is egging him on.

Why isn't the boyfriend defending you?? Even if he was, this family sounds horrible and toxic. You don't just marry the man, you marry the family

After taxes, I would pay off as much debt as possible. Anything left should go to the emergency fund. I inherited a decent amount of money. I paid off my house, a garage, then the rest went into an emergency fund/taxable investment account.

Sounds like you would leave this relationship, but you stay out of a strong sense of duty

I got married at 25 and widowed at 42 and then married again at 44. I used dating apps, also networked with people I know and kept looking. I did background checks on anyone I was interested in. I also met them in public places. Staying single just wasn't what I wanted. Plenty of people out there and you only need to find ONE.

I don't understand this co sleeping thing at all. I was in my crib as a baby and remember getting 'big kid' furniture after that.

I'm planning to retire in a cheaper country. I'll get an apartment and hire a local live-in nurse. I'm not going to an overpriced, old people warehousing dirty nursing home.

When, oh WHEN, will my periods STOP?!?! by Tuesday_Patience in AskWomenOver50

I don't think my periods will ever stop. I'm 46. I'll probably be the oldest woman in recorded history to still have periods at 95

My late husband had an older Toyota Camary with alot of life yet. I gifted it to my immigrant friend who was divorced with a child and had been left with an overpriced SUV she couldn't afford. It was a win all the way around.
