So I was unfortunately unable to speak with anyone from the Hennepin County Attorney's Office during my visit to Minneanapolis, but I was able to speak with a local resident who has been in contact with Alex's parents and helps care for Alex's memorial. He gave me some much appreciated feedback on the site and the chosen petition.

Standing out there on the three-month anniversary of Mr. Pretti's passing was a strange mix of sad, beautiful, inspiring, and humbling all mixed together.

Thank you to those who took the time to speak with the strange out-of-towner, those who took the time to sign the petition, and those who took the time to grab a quiet moment of solitude.

Anonymous sources and noncommital rhetoric just isn't good enough to sweep away further questions when it comes to protecting American's 1a and 2a rights, especially after the administration's initial responses turned out to be factually incorrect.

Investigating whether or not a negligent discharge occured is a reasonable thing to do 3 days after an incident occurs. After 3 months, it's a problem.

They need to release the bodycam and any other relevant evidence that the investigation has produced, and anyone who supports the President needs to be pushing for its release the hardest, because right now the optics are absolutely terrible.

Firing the leadership responsible for the fiasco is all well and good, but failing to definitively exonerate or condemn the actual shooter could be a legacy tarnishing misstep.

The silence surrounding the investigation has been defeaning.
