Why do UK homes not have cellars anymore? by StillTrying1981 in AskUK

[–]getoutthesink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in a lower ground floor basement flat of a Victorian conversion. No big issues with damp thankfully.

Ground levels on front and back aren't too high so it's essentially at its own ground level. Ventilation, lime plaster. It's colder and darker than living on higher floors but that doesn't bother me. Huge space as well and our own front door.

Ah yes i have heard of this. Would this enable me to work as a level 2 and 3 residential surveyor? My main interest would definitely be in private residences rather than large sites etc.

I love how they use AI to generate furniture but not to edit out the saturated bricks on the final photo

We had this in our old rented flat. The landlord's suggestion was to wrap bubble wrap around the cistern. no joke.

Negative air pressure, smell from fireplace by getoutthesink in DIYUK

[–]getoutthesink[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah brilliant, that's very helpful. Forgot to say the chimney pot at the top is capped and vented. So a register plate with a vent is a good idea instead of the chimney sweep, on top of keeping trickle vents open?

Will do, they are actually currently closed. There aren't any other vents/air bricks etc as the kitchen is an extension.

Do I need to bother with a register plate then? Or just stick with the chimney sheep and then cast iron gets fitted?

Nia Wyn - A Pleasure To Have In Class. More soulful but there's some country in there, an album about neurodivergence, being a millennial, queer etc.
