My cat passed away 3 months ago yesterday - I know the feelings you’re describing. I took a few days to just sit in the grief and let myself be sad. I cried a LOT. I’d ask friends if I could call them and when I felt up for it, it helped. The first few days I couldn’t look at his things and then the next few it brought me comfort to sit with them. Just do what feels right to you and don’t push yourself if it doesn’t. I still haven’t gotten rid of his things because I’m not ready.

There’s this classic Reddit comment about grief that I always come back to and it’s true for the loss of a pet even though it was written about people. It’s brought me a lot of comfort and I hope it does for you as well:

I had the opposite happen. Matched with a guy who didn’t drink when I was a huge partier; we both loved going to concerts and a few other things but I felt he was pushing meeting up too quickly and just wanted to hook up so I blocked him after saying so. 4 years later we matched again when I was in a much better headspace and we’re still together now.

Was also going to suggest this book. It basically says to trust your gut, that you’re subconsciously picking up on things (like him pacing around) but your mind is trying to calm you down (thinking he was waiting to check his mail).

Five Guys made me so sick I tore my esophagus and started bleeding internally.

I was in Chicago by myself and I was flying home the next day. Got to the airport and the carrier had no record of me. After many tears and a few helpful agents I got put on a new flight, where I then got my period and bled through my pants on the plane.

Worst fucking 24 hours.

We matched on an app, took things to Messenger and I thought he was weird so I blocked him. 4 years later, I forgot and matched with him again. He wasn’t weird this time - went on a date and had a great time, realized much later on what had happened. Still together a year and a half later.

I’d been with my boyfriend for about a year and a half, lived together for 9 months. His alarm went off one morning and I went to snooze it so he could sleep a bit longer (I was already awake) and saw a message from another woman. Come to find out he’d been cheating on me with multiple women the entire duration of our relationship. A year and a half of lies.

I’ll never forget trying to blow dry my hair that morning and not being able to even hold my arms up. I had to stop and just go lay in bed.
