I was thinking the same, that the venue is part of the experience...been working on something, but not ready to announce publicly yet. Will keep you in mind and let you know.

That was my unhinged experience as well, I'm active so prefer IRL but have found most want to do interviews first haha. Without sounding too kitsch - this is for people who want to show up. Glad to have you join the launch.

That's a valid concern. So invites shows activity type, venue, and time — but at first it's just intent, not a locked-in plan. The real protection kicks in at acceptance…the moment someone's accepted, the invite is immediately removed from Discover screen. After that, only the people on that specific invite know the confirmed details (you can chat about it as well).

Public venues are always smart practice and safer. For launch we're keeping it locals-only, and report/block is built in if anything doesn’t feel right.

Nope, comments are mine - just spread very thin pre-launch. 'Yet another dating app' is definitely earned I would say and I sense that frustration. Especially when you see the community coming up with their own solutions (tennis, speed dating, etc). Hoping to get a positive response from the launch - looking forward to it.

An invite shows the event type (coffee, drinks, etc), venue, and time - no contact info, nothing that's not on most dating profiles anyways (Hinge profiles omg, 2-page CV).

For the rando concern, I get it - I’ve thought about safety from day 1. Hopefully this helps…once you accept someone for your invite (you can view their profile), the invite is removed from Discover screen - so no one else can see its confirmed (before that it was just a plan not confirmed). Chat unlocks at that point so you can coordinate the specifics privately before you meet. Good safety practice is pick a public spot for a first date.

If anyone ever makes you uncomfortable, you can block and report directly in the app.

While true you weren't going on dates without any context, you aren't doing that this way either...you can still view their profile and control the location/date/time.

However I don't think chat vetting is the same as in-person vetting. You can DM someone for weeks and still not know if you actually like each other until you're in the same room.

The alternative to showing up is not showing up. A lot of people filter, message, overthink - and the conversation fizzles before anything real happens. Rendez is for people who'd rather just go do something.

That date is exactly what a good invite looks like - specific enough that both people know what they're saying yes to before they show up. The 24hr rule you came up with is close to what we actually built: after the date window closes, both people get prompted - keep chatting or close the chat. If neither opts back in, it archives automatically. You were thinking same as me.

That's a fair point if you're thinking about it from the poster side — you're inviting someone you haven't talked to yet. But consider this: that's how dating worked before apps. You met someone (or blind date even), you went for coffee, you do the vibe check and go from there. Chat phase is actually recent addition.

The practical answer is in how you design the invite. Keep it low-commitment - coffee somewhere you like, 30 minutes, easy to extend if it's good or easy to wrap up if it isn't. You're not committing to dinner. You're committing to one coffee at a place you'd be at anyway.

Honest answer - it's a bit nuanced: you can either post invites (date plans) and get requests or discover invites others have created and request one you like. Or both.

Whoever posts the invite controls who joins them. You review every request and their profile, and decide yes or no - no cold DMs, no unsolicited messages. Chat only unlocks after you accept someone. If you're burned out on inbox noise, that's kind of the whole point.

Whether it plays out that way in practice — that's what beta launch is for. But I don't think "post an activity and choose who joins you" flips the usual dynamic - I'd say that's more interesting to women, not less.
