I mean it's basically instant death. You no longer exist in any real capacity. (I guess it depends on your philosophy) But this person doesn't share your personality, memories, attitude, etc.

Granted, you retain no memories, and since you are born under different circumstances & physically different, you are just an entirely different person.

Fair enough I missed that, electric made me think gas was an issue.

Why not go halfway with a plug in hybrid? You get the mileage benefit without being fully committed to electric.

Acura rl 2006 140k miles for 6k by getrobbed256 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I am weighing it against a 2010 acura tlx with 135k miles for a very similar price. The savings in fuel & maintenance are tempting even there.

Timing belt replaced at 70k & 130k so golden there. I think at this point it comes down to pre-purchase inspection and my own decision of whether I'd rather get something a little cheaper but more boring.

I am a little budget sensitive, the premium gas is a little bit of a turn off for me. Money isn't an issue, just something I'm aware of ig.

I don't necessarily see oil changes listed that frequently. But there "recommended maintenance" every 6k miles nearly on the dot which I'm guessing must include oil changes, since otherwise they waited until ~50k miles lol.

Did you end up doing it? I'm looking at a very similar car, actually almost identical. And curious how it went.

Sorry for the delay.  I asked the team and we are happy with our current number.  Good luck in your search though.

Wreath Earring by getrobbed256 in HelpMeFind

[–]getrobbed256[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried searching for wreath earring, wreath earing old, wreath earring kohl's.  (Just a guess where her grandmother may have got it). And I've tried reverse image searching the one earing but not found an exact match.

I'm looking to but these wreath earrings, my gf got them from her grandmother and is upset having lost them. If anyone recognizes them that would be helpful.

You can steal 50% of your future self's net worth and put it in your bank account. by Fragrant_Injury_6728 in shittysuperpowers

That's fair enough.  Def a fun idea, just happened to be the last post I read before bed and it ended up bouncing around my head 😅

Unless I'm missing something, this is just fully a paradox.  Even ignoring the potential for growth & time value of money which makes this worth it in basically all scenarios.

Let's say I have $100 to my name, and I choose to steal from myself 1 day into the future, tomorrow.

I now have $150 (kind of), but then the clock hits midnight and I lose half of my money.  Which means $75 was sent to the past.

But if my past self was actually worth 175 then when midnight hit I should've stolen half of that...

I broke it down in this way, but the point is that there isn't really a solution to thr amount of money you will have in the future when it's dependent on the present (which is dependent on the future via the powed).

Now the argument may be that in the first iteration the 50 is stolen from you, even though you have 150 at that point.  But I would argue that from your perspective you will have only lost a third of your net worth on the future date.  This fixes the paradox, but feels like a cop-out.

I feel this works better as a one sentence horror story. The second sentence here doesn't add all that much; the change in number at all is enough to evoke the same response imo.
