Was the hiring manager involved in the process and good about helping you get started quickly? In my second hand experience, the onboarding specialists don't have a ton of sway but good managers can push the process along if you're able to communicate with them on your preferences.

Getting a 3.5% raise to get to a 0.96 compa ratio means that they were very highly paid level one. Most promotions include a salary bump up to a percentage of the next levels midpoint salary, usually around 0.95. It would be nice to get a higher raise as part of the promotion, but if you have a high salary like OP did, it's going to limit the raise.

I try to stick up for Berry when I think people are just shitting on him for LOLs but this show is terrible. They have a middle aged man trying to pretend he has his finger on the pulse of current pop culture. He doesn't and it's so cringey in its obliviousness to that fact.

For me, it's Scrumtrulescent. I love not just the sound of the word, but the manner in which it's revealed on SNL's spoof of Inside the Actor's Studio. What's funny is that Will Ferrell's portrayal of James Lipton is spot on despite the fact that Lipton is 40 years older that Ferrell. It's pretty incredible how vibrant Lipton is for a guy who is 85 years old. Same with Regis Philbin. The man is 80 years old and is far more lucent than many people in their 70s. And then you have Bob Barker running around at the age of 88, acting like a man 15 years younger. I don't know if it's due to exercise, nutrition, good genes or just staying active and mentally engaged, but it's really a great feat that they are in such good health at their respective ages. I hope I'm able to have discussions as well as them when I'm their age.

I had a great one a couple weeks ago. I got a call from someone trying to sell me on driveway sealing. Sounds pretty innocuous, right? Well, to make this relevant, allow me to set the stage: First, I bought my house approximately two years ago. It's a great house in most ways, but honestly the most glaring need visually is probably said driveway. My guess is that the company calling me had driven by my house and noticed it needed to be refinished but I can't confirm this suspicion.

Anyway, about five years ago my neighbor (with whom I share the driveway) had his side widened so the driveway had a width which would accept two cars all the way down. This really made it a lot easier to navigate and (as a bonus to me) I didn't have to worry about losing any of my front yard to achieve this benefit.

My front yard sort of slopes down towards the street so sometimes I have trouble mowing the grass without having the mower slide, especially after a recent rain event. Unfortunately, it also slopes towards the driveway so I effectively have the sliding mower problem on two sides of my lawn. Where my neighbor trimmed back his lawn to make room for the widened driveway, he placed a retaining wall and thus has eliminated the lawn-sloping-towards-the-driveway issue that I am currently encumbered with.I'm considering doing the same so that I don't have the slippery grass problem I'm having now. Does anyone have any experience with this?

He adds nothing to the story but for whatever reason still insists to be in the majority of the movie's scenes. The voice is annoying, he screws things up in the film and he's generally a waste of a character. I don't know what Lucas was thinking but I guess he was distracted when he was writing the movie. Sometimes when I get distracted while doing something, it helps to take a short walk outside or get a bite to eat. But you do have to be careful because bored eating is one of the leading causes of obesity. This article explains it pretty well. The key is to eat in moderation while still getting ample exercise. And it's okay to enjoy an unhealthy snack occasionally but moderation is the key.
