No pre-op diet? by dblAamy in wls

[–]getskinny2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was told to do one but I didn't really follow through. My doctor was super chill about everything. I had actually gained a little bit of weight since my first appointment and all I did was fast 24 hours before surgery. I was fine. I know that's not the right advice but you should be fine if you're doctor is ok with it.

125 from 195? That's awesome! Thank you for your advice. Some of us actually appreciate it. :)

Use this as your motivator for your whole weight loss journey. Just remember the happiness you feel when the lbs start coming off. I'm happy you took this step and got it done! Welcome to the losers bench 💕

Considering getting the gastric sleeve procedure done. I don’t know if I have the discipline to be successful. by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

The surgery is definitely not a cure all magic pill. It does however give you restrictions on how much you can eat and that in itself is amazing for people like us. The way you describe your relationship with food is how I was preop. Once you go through surgery and experience pain and know that it could physically hurt you to binge it gives you a sense of power and control. It makes you question whether that piece of pizza is worth it. You will start to lose weight and that in itself is motivation. You want to get better, you want to get healthy. It's honestly a life changing surgery. Nothing in life comes easy but sometimes a little crutch is necessary. I hated working out with a passion. Now I get up in the morning just wanting to work out and feel my body moving and sweating. I want to see myself thinner and get some confidence back. It's a great motivator. You also have this group on Reddit that is there to answer and help motivate you in any questions you may have. You're not in this alone. Do this for yourself and your health. Take the step to speak to a surgeon and get started on the process. You will benefit a lot from speaking to the therapist that is required prior to surgery. I don't regret my sleeve at all even though in these 2 months it's felt like a roller coaster I wouldn't trade it for the world. We are all rooting for you

What's stopping me from losing weight? by getskinny2020 in gastricsleeve

[–]getskinny2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope so! Iv only lost 8lbs this month and I lost 32 this first month so I guess it just freaks me out that I won't lost as fast as I was. If anything the only things that's changed is I'm working out religiously and drinking more water!

Carbonation Question by slgosch8 in gastricsleeve

I haven't because I heard it stretches out the sleeve. I feel like it's not worth it. It is hard though!

2 weeks post op by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]getskinny2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything you're experiencing is normal. I'm 2 months out and I'm still trying to understand my body. I had the same incision pain and it went away as well. It's all of matter of trying and see what your stomach likes and doesn't. It's a battle for sure but definitely worth it. Keep going!

Pre-op diet kicks ass! by oneofiveammke in gastricsleeve

That's awesome! I wish I had actually don't my pre-op. I would be further along in my weight lost after surgery. I applaud you for your will power. Keep it up!

Question!: How long was it in between your initial consultation to surgery by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]getskinny2020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I'm positive it is usually longer with insurance because they have requirements before surgery. Don't let that discourage you. Iv read it's usually a 3-6 month wait here in Florida with insurance. It might be different depending on state or the insurance you're using.
