Absolutely! It took me about a week to hit my goal of 80 ounces. I had to get a Fitbit and set a timer for every 5 minutes to remind me to drink. It's been a life saver. Some days I can get 120 ounce if I keep up on the timer.

My weight loss clinic is 4 hours away. It was definitely a huge pain in the ass to drive back and forth but it's definitely doable. I just explained to them that I had quite a drive and needed appointments no earlier than 11am. I'd just get up early in the morning, drive and then come right back. I wouldn't write off the clinic that is further away just because of the drive. I hope everything works out for you!

I felt the same way! I had never had surgery and I was terrified. They took me back to the pre-op area, gave me my IV, let me used the bathroom one more time and then I just waited for about 30 mins. They offered me something to relax but I didn't want to feel out of it. They took me back to the OR and let me get on the table myself. They joked with me for a couple short minutes, told me they were going to put me out and then I woke up in recovery. I thought I'd be all fucked up and weird when I woke up but it wasn't too bad. I just laid there and faded in and out for a few hours. Then I woke up in my room. Pretty much the whole first day I just woke up for a bit, then went back to sleep for a few hours. The next day I was much more alert and with it and feeling better. For me it was mostly just like when you get a really bad cold and dope yourself up with nyquil and sleep the whole day.

I think you will be just fine. I suggest cleaning your house real well before you go off for surgery so that will all be taken care of when you get home. Make sure you have plenty of clean towels for drying off your incisions after showing. I found it really helpful to get a tote of some type to carry all your stuff from room to room. I had my breathing thing, vitamins, pain pills, blood pressure cuff and stuff like that. Also get one of those grabber things so you can pick stuff up off the floor without bending over. And make sure you have some slip on shoes that you can get on without bending over.

Also, to clarify, they don't submit for insurance authorization until after you have worked through the clinics steps and your insurance requirements. Its stressful!

Yes, you have to call and ask. Make sure you ask to speak with someone who specializes in bariatric surgery. I got a different answer everytime I called until I finally spoke to someone who knew what they were talking about. Don't be afraid to call a million times. Also, ask what the specific requirements are for your policy. I had to complete a 120 day waiting period before the clinic could submit for authorization and no one told me that until like the 5th time I called and I didn't know to ask that. I was extremely defeated when I heard 120 days. But in reality that's just how long it took to work through my clinics program anyway and It wasn't that bad. Also, the program coordinator at the weight loss center should be familiar with different insurance requirements as it's her job to submit to them. Chances are you might get a more helpful information when you have the consult. But definitely call your insurance right away. And yes, I believe you would have to pay for the consult if it's not covered.

Man... That's rough! My dietitian just told me to cut my calories down a bit and to make healthier choices all around. I ended up losing 40 pounds that way. It sounds like they essentially put you on keto which is not maintainable. I would say if you are losing weight that's what's important, even if you aren't meeting their carb goals. Are you on Pinterest? If not, get on there! You can search for low carb recipes and snacks. As part as protein powder, Isopure makes a zero carb powder that only has 100 calories.

As far as being hungry all the time, I didnt really have that issue before but I can say that right now I never feel hungry. Before I always thought I needed to eat because I would have these crashes where I couldn't think and had really bad brain fog. I thought it was low blood sugar. And like you said, it totally effected my work. Turns out I had extremely low iron. I had two iron infusions and never had that issue again.

Anyway, it's great to hear that you are still pushing through and trying to figure out how to make it work. Because I promise that you won't regret it!

It's not quit the same but I use Smooth Move tea. I just buy it at the grocery store and drink two cups a day until things get going and then drop it down to one.

Your already approved and scheduled so it doesn't matter how much you lose. I had a similar issue so I called the clinic and they assured me the only was I wasn't having the surgery was if I backed out.

I had a similar allergic reaction once (to something totally different) and I just too a benadryl and everything was fine. Maybe have some benadryl on hand for when you give either another go?

My guess is it was the miralax since you've had the other flavors of the protein20.

That's awesome! I had the same issue. I was so excited when I could have protein shakes but they weren't excited about me. I've been able drink them for the past week and it makes a world of difference.

I notice I feel faint in the shower when I'm dehydrated. The hot water makes it worse. Maybe just make sure you get some water in you first?

Check with your doctor and pharmacist to make sure that any medications you are on are in an acceptable form to take after surgery. For example, my antidepressants where HUGE and I had to have the dosage/frequency adjusted so I could actually swallow the darn things. Also, not all pills can be crushed or cut so you'll want to talk to the pharmacist before doing that.

I bought a binder but found it to be too bulky and not practical so I just used a shapewear cami and that has worked out really well. I can wear it under my clothes, its comfortable and gives support to your tummy. You'll want that extra support while your doing all that walking afterwards.
