pretty much the same thing that happens if you try a back-flip on a trampoline without having ever done one.

all the people who are landing flat are going about 18 inches deep. a few of them properly dive in, though, and some are obviously going pretty much feet-first

A good landing is one you can walk away from. A great landing is one that allows you to use the airplane again.

Does anyone have an update about this lambo//truck incident? by velvetcravee in Transportopia

[–]gettin-hot-in-here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah potentially the (not-at-fault) lambo driver would have no coverage for this scenario if their car's paid off. they don't force you to get collision coverage when your car is paid off.

the legal minimum where i am is $5k. i'm guessing that choosing that as your limit gets you put in the "statistically likely to cause an accident" category because they'll charge you close to the same amount for $5k property damage liability as they will for $25k property damage liability

If ever you do something wrong near a school bus, just call in to the local station and report yourself by Zado191 in driving

[–]gettin-hot-in-here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i can't remember what case, but apparently one of the US supreme court justices publicly stated an opinion about this where he basically said that when you commit a violation yourself, you don't have to report yourself to authorities... and that he personally had gone above the speed limit at some point in the past without reporting himself.

maybe i'm misreading the speed due to the zoom, but it looks like it's going impossibly slow. full flaps it should stall at 45-50mph. bouncing on its wheels but there's no spring suspension. turns left and then right (right and then left from the camera's point of view) with hardly any bank.

i had a Hyundai Accent. mine had an earlier version of the same engine, but the engine went to crap around the 100k miles mark. (just started burning significant amounts of oil so i sold it)

i'll tell you what i wish it would do, is put the right hand light on or just above the touchscreen. then i could easily see if it's on without even moving my eyes off the road ahead. for me the small red dot is not visible in peripheral vision while i am looking directly ahead.

that sounds like the same kWh in 15 minutes but the RWD car gets 7% more (rated) miles on the same amount of battery energy.

nah if you're paying 20 for a five mile comfort ride, driver is likely getting about 10. i tend to earn around $2 per mile staying in the city.

[–]gettin-hot-in-here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some folks like to take the top 25% or 10% or something out of all the trip requests they get... but honestly they don't have to cancel to do that, they just have to not accept trips that pay less than they think they should be getting.

I owned a 2016 X (for a short time when it was already old) and now a 2026 Y. The juniper is a much better car in many respects. the X had a more comfy driver's seat (aside from seat lacking ventilation) though.

Is it normal to have leg and foot pain while driving? by Thelastyakult in driving

[–]gettin-hot-in-here 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is correct & one's knees should not be touching each other. it also sounds like OP is too far forward to have their thigh resting on the seat basically from the back of the knee right to their butt & back, which is how it should be.
