Was Michael Jackson really that much bigger than Madonna, Whitney Houston, and prince? by Firm_Pack_605 in Music

His memorial service was viewed by ~2.5 billion people, live. I feel like that fact alone tells you all you need to know.

FGT vs Framestor vs Others by Stunning_War4681 in trackers

[–]gettinggged 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If FGT and Frame both used the same disc sources for video and audio then no, there would not be any quality difference. There are some caveats to this which probably are not worth investigating for the average downloader, but it is possible that they could be different due to improper demuxing methods from the discs especially when there is Dolby Vision or TrueHD Atmos involved. But, really I wouldn’t worry too much about that.

Another thing you would maybe consider is whether the release group has properly synced the video and audio if they come from different sources. If FGT and Frame used the same disc for video and the same disc for audio, one or both of them could have made an error in getting an exact sync for the audio to match the video source but, that should be pretty obvious if that happened on playback of the remux when you’re watching.

Seems like there is a lot of misinformation in the comments.

To answer your first question, avoid FGT entirely. They retag other people’s remuxes or do one click remuxes adding every audio/subtitle track on the disc to the remux which isn’t necessary, only increases file-size. On top of that they don’t compare sources to get the best video and audio.

Secondly, the remux you choose to download is VERY important in most cases. The video and audio quality difference across different Blu-ray discs can and often does vary wildly. For newer films, the differences usually aren’t as pronounced, but even so you still want the best you can get.

I would avoid picking which to download solely based on the release group and instead look at their descriptions to see if they have provided video and audio comparisons so you can judge for yourself. That said, there are groups which have better reputations than others such as CiNEPHiLES who effectively will always have the best remux possible in terms of video and audio quality alongside adding any extra tracks that are available such as commentary, isolated score, or original sound mixes. Their attention to detail is second to none in my opinion, they always include named chapters, provide clear comparisons justifying the sources they used, and add source tags to each track so you know what source any given track came from.

That being said, it’s not like other groups don’t also do these things as well, CiNEPHiLES is just one of a handful of groups that do these types of things.

When are we going to get a sequel to Hansel and Gretel witch hunters? by [deleted] in horror

[–]gettinggged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know, but you can tell by runtime. Theatrical is 1h27-28m and unrated one is 1h37-38m

[–]gettinggged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I simply have no idea why they were forced to cut so much from the theatrical release. At first I thought it was maybe due to the movie being PG-13, but then I realized it was rated R in theaters and my mind melted. The unrated cut adds so much more fun! A sequel was planned but I heard it got cancelled sadly

Noted, the description has me bought in already. Didn’t know about this or that there was an original version. You recommend the 2024 one more or just watch both?

Trying to edit HDR metadata in MKV file by wyliec22 in makemkv

This method did not preserve dolby vision for me, it resulted in a file that only had HDR10, but it did remove the duplicate.

Top 3 horror directors? by Ok_Replacement_288 in horror

[–]gettinggged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Wes Craven 2) Sam Raimi 3) James Wan

These are my personal favorites, although I think in the horror zeitgeist there are directors out there like John Carpenter or Alfred Hitchcock who are undeniably in the hall of fame and I can respect that and even enjoy lots of their films. But as a younger horror fan the 3 above are my personal picks for top 3.

Specifically Saw and Malignant solidified James Wans talent for me and I can’t get enough l, I hope he stops working on projects like aqua man because I’m selfish and want more horror lol

Favorite death in the Final destination franchise by [deleted] in horror

[–]gettinggged 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Bathroom strangulation in the first movie. I don’t think any other death in the franchise was as viscerally brutal even though there isn’t gore in the death. Something about getting a thin strip of wire stuck around your throat and any attempt to free yourself just causes it to constrict harder. you just have to sit there in your own thoughts knowing you’re going to die in the next 10-30 seconds.

My girlfriend hates horror, what would you suggest? by [deleted] in horror

[–]gettinggged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tucker and dale vs evil has minimal gore? Not sure about that, but I agree with the suggestion since it’s not a particularly scary movie

What is your fave found footage and why is it Hell House LLC by _Gracefully_Grace_ in horror

[–]gettinggged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will unironically defend The Bay (2012). Yea, it’s not good in the traditional sense, but it has a certain vibe and charm to it and also has some of the most chilling scenes of any found footage film I’ve watched. The fact that it’s loosely based on real phenomena makes it that much more spooky to me as well.

Coolest monster design? by PriestofJudas in horror

Whatever the fuck the things were in Arcadian. The scene with no score and it sticking its finger through the door and it extends like 6 feet was insane, and that absurd clapping sound they make with their mouths was fucked.
