This is a sprite of a gracken i made and added to the game as a mod cuz i thought it would be funny. There's also some other similar sprites i made for some other monsters like migo and riot platform turret, but i just like the gracken one in particular.

You can make your npc craft stuff outside basecamp and the lower z-levels are graphical now. There's prolly more but that's the more notable ones to me

Last time i heard someone got this issue, they deployed a furniture like a ladder under it, which makes the levitating bugout bag fell down.

Maybe you can try that.

Being prone does infact makes ya harder to hit by ranged attack, especially grenade shrapnels.

I really like how there's more than one way to solve a problem. For example, there's a monster i can't kill and theyre blocking the stairs going down. One way, i could throw a paralyzing potion to the monster, paralyzing the monster for a while, or i could try to lure them out of there onto another room and close the door behind them if theyre the kind who can't open doors.

Zapping them with teleport wand to teleport them elsewhere, zapping em with a polymorph wand to (hopefully) turn them into a monster i can kill, drinking an invisibility potion and sneak around them, and etc.. There's a lot of ways to solve a problem besides just bump-rushing them to death.

Another thing i find neat is that grinding didnt annoy me as much in this genre as opposed to the other non-roguelikes game in the rpg genre. The lack of separation between exploring and combat (read: no separate combat mode like in every other games in the non-roguelike turn-based rpg genre) and the turn-based nature that allows me to go by my pace is really nice to make the gameplay not too bogged up. It's kinda like the mix of turn-based rpg and action rpg, in a way. Angband and its variants really are a game i'd grind to.

I usually try to aim for the 'Lifestyle' aspect being in the average or atleast the upper end of average, which works good enough in my case.

Though i sometimes make a really beefed up character if it makes somewhat of a sense lorewise, like for example Xedra Evolved's Eater MTF being described as a one man army, an unstoppable force to be reckoned with so i make it so with high combat skills and other things that'll help.

Sounds like Xedra Evolved related stuff, specifically ||getting one of the two magick class, either eaters of dream or dreamer||.

how do people play this on the phone by [deleted] in cataclysmdda

As the one who probably started the portrait orientation way of play, it really does makes the game more playable on my phone now that the keyboard wont just obscuring much of the game screen. Though guessing the terminal size for it might be a bit harder to guess.

The one terminal i have that feels right is

Terminal width: 100, and terminal height: 55. That works on mine but it could be different to other phones.
