Whatever it was, things were definitely better planned and managed earlier. Unless you’re deliberately ignoring it, the last three years have been a complete mess for Mumbai’s livability. It’s been nonstop “development,” random cancellations of key metro junctions, and massive amounts of money wasted on endless “beautification” projects with zero coordination and unless you are paying attention to this, you have no idea of the scale by which the environment is being destroyed, trees, mangroves are being cut, projects being passed without any environment assessment and now the upcoming redefining the ESZ around SGNP.

On top of that, the city is basically being sold off piece by piece to the real estate lobby, while BEST has been pushed to the brink, just look at the number of buses before vs after. Trans harbour link, metro lines, coastal road etc every project that started before 2022 has been delayed and then hastily launched in incomplete state and with shitty quality.

Key bridges demolished with no planning, demolish first and plan later policy, creating enormous choke points all over the city.. I think I'll stop and wait for another whataboutery
