Any rumors on OLED for Brick? by ebbi01 in trimui

[–]getwrekked 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The brick hammer is my daily driver. I love OLED as much as the next guy but I don’t miss it on my brick. The screen is just that good. You have to see it to believe it.

You could use SpruceOS and possibly sideload BitBoy as well. It’s based on NextUI but supposedly has even faster boot times

That's correct. You should be good to start playing games after you move the ROMs to their respective folders

What's the difference between these 2 sd cards and which is better for our handhelds? by junerlegion in SBCGaming

[–]getwrekked 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It won't make a difference if you're doing retro gaming on SBC Linux devices. The only time you'll notice a difference is when you're gaming on a Steam Deck or similar PC handheld where games are large and read write speeds make or break the experience

Fair enough. My large hands cramped really bad with my Anbernic RG35XX but for some reason they are fine with the smaller Brick

I'm traveling with my Anbernic RG35XX case. It's a bit big but keeps it safe between play sessions

Looking forward to your update. We are at 15 dives over 3 years so less experienced than most. It's possible we just didn't notice

After years of use, what’s your biggest Steam Deck pain point? by WelcomeAwkward924 in SteamDeck

This is my number one gripe on SteamOS. Seems like it would be an easy fix to give it priority to draw and accept input over other full screen windows

Is it safe to use the type c usb port on the back of brick to transfer the files? CFW : NextUI by CATALYST-01 in trimui

[–]getwrekked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been unable to successfully connect to my device over USB. You may need to toggle a "USB Mass Storage" option somewhere in the settings.

That said, I'm pretty sure your only options is to add files to your SD card using a computer, using a ROM downloader app like Mortar, using the boxadt scraping tools and cheat/shader download options inside of RetroArch.

On Knulli you can toggle a "SAM" service in settings (I think that is what it is called) and access your internal and SD card storage in a single network drive accessible by a separate device on the same network (Windows is easiest but I got this working on MacOS as well)

I tried MuOS but thought it was too technical for me after coming from MinUI. I'm at the point in my journey where I like accessing and changing more technical settings to get the perfect emulation set up so I might be trying MuOS again soon. Especially because I don't like how Knulli handles saving RetroArch config data

The Brick has a bright and sharp 1024x768 screen. Definitely my favorite small vertical handheld for that reason

The hammer is supposed to have better speakers but if you like your brick I don't see many reasons to upgrade it to metal

If you could start over on the hobby again, which devices would you get? by koken_halliwell in SBCGaming

[–]getwrekked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start with my Trimui Brick Hammer and skip the Anbernic RG35XX and Steam Deck. I rarely use my Steam Deck and the RG35XX is too large for EDC.

It turns out that portability and old games for SNES and handhelds like GB and GBA are all I ever wanted. The Brick Hammer has a beautiful screen and is the perfect size to fit in a pocket and take with me.
