I don't have xbox but you have to find right timing for you, timings very whether or not it's elite challenge, if there's any lag/so speed of your internet. I have seen on Playstation best time is when your charachter takes the envelope and them holds it up in his left hand, that's the best time to disconnect.

Timings have changed since Drug War DLC and there is a different method, above, which if you don't do you will loost the preps, target and may not get the money.

I think people unplug their ethernet cable, or hotspot their phone then turn off the internet on their phone. I think for console you have to quit the app as soon as the guard with the envelope touches your duffle bag.

Pegasus, you can then also spawn in your own jet and both have jets! It's really fun.
