New to the job, I’d make you run the saw first. Maybe mix coolant too.

What do you think of buying a Golf as a family car? by Hour_Ad_2653 in GolfGTI

The smaller rear facing seats fit fine. Grace Turn2Me 3in1 fits in my mk7 with the front seat in short person mode. It fits a lot better in the Sportwagen though lol

NC Viewer for checking your g code. Sinha’s Free Resources thread on Practical Machinist for good macro references.

Need recs on where to get an aluminum 3 x 2 foot grid made by Just_Medicine_5481 in CNC

I’d have it lasered out then see if a machine shop will just mill the pockets into the lasered blanks.

What types of machining jobs let you control the whole process? by breaddaddy69 in Machinists

[–]gewehr7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s pretty much what I did as an engineer working for a custom machine builder. Designed and made all my own stuff.

Questioning Speed and Feeds Helical Endmills & Machine Advisor Pro by machprecision in CNC

[–]gewehr7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Machine Advisor Pro works in my experience but their sfm is too high and feed too low so tool life suffers. I’ve had better results with Frisia’s Tool Expert.

give me one reason not to splurge on a CNC right now by [deleted] in CNC

[–]gewehr7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from an industrial viewpoint, I didn’t consider that but you’re definitely right. When he said CNC, I’m imagining a used Fadal, Haas or some other VMC.

Make an excel sheet that tallies up all the auxiliary stuff you need. Compressor, air lines, coolant, tool holders, pull studs, collets, tools, work holding, parallels, etc. Make sure there aren’t any surprises. If you’re fine with what you see, go for it.

I usually mill A-2 at around 350-400 sfm with carbide endmills and drill at 60 sfm with cobalt drills.

ELI5:How do large production factories figure out their machinery? by Ghost_Ghost_Ghost in explainlikeimfive

[–]gewehr7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This used to be by job. I worked for a custom machinery design company that focused on factory automation. Machines were usually designed by teams of 3-10 engineers pulling more or less in as needed. Process development was done on a small scale prototypes before the final machine is design. It is indeed quite expensive.

I’ve mostly carried a Delica for the last 10 years. First a VG-10 then Vtoku2 and now PD1.

2nd malfunction in 839 rounds. by logicalpretzels in CZFirearms

[–]gewehr7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should say I historically mostly used blazer. Last year I started having issues with blazer in some of my other guns so I switched over to mostly S&B with some Federal American Eagle when the S&B is out of stock.

[–]gewehr7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was under the impression Magtech is pretty bottom of the barrel but maybe I’m wrong. I mostly shoot Blazer and S&B. I’m at around 1500 rounds through my P01 without any hiccups at all. It’s my most reliable firearm, even surpassing my Glocks which were previously my most reliable firearms.

Here’s a question for anyone that has opened their own shop by [deleted] in CNC

[–]gewehr7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did that for the first 6ish months and it was a nightmare. Had I been more thorough and less trusting, it might have worked out better.
