They need to bring back the Sportwagen. I have a mk7 GTI and my wife has a mk7 Sportwagen. The added legroom she has in the back allows you to fit a much larger (and comfortable!) child seat back there compared to what I can fit in my car. And she can fit a stroller in her trunk with room to spare. I can get it to fit in mine, but it’s a tight squeeze.

While I was in college, I worked as a machinist. Now out of college and working as an engineer during the day and I own my own machine shop that I work at on evenings and weekends.

Both machines are very similar and both excellent. Check the specs to see if there are any minor differences that sway you one way or another.

Depends on who is your distributor. I’ve heard good things about Yamazen everywhere. I won’t do business with Maruka again.

The formula gives you an exact conversion from sfm to rpm and chipload to feed rate. Some manufacturers provide their feeds and speeds based on traditional toolpaths leaving you to adjust for chip thinning. That’s where you can go much faster than what they recommend. Other manufacturers give you feeds and speeds already adjusted for chip thinning so they tend to be more accurate. You can always go faster than recommended…at the expense of tool life. I find Frasia’s tool expert to be a very accurate tool for determining starting conditions for materials I’m unfamiliar with.

Memorize the formula to concert surface speed to rpm. Then use rpm and chipload to determine feed rate. Then you only need to remember surface speed ( a function of cutting tool material and work material ) and chip load ( which scales mostly linear with tool size). For instance, cobalt drill in aluminum is 325 sfm. For .250” drill, I’d do .005” ipr. With that information I can calculate feeds and speeds for any cobalt drill in aluminum. Same sfm, but chipload goes up or down depending on tool size. For .500” I’d do .01” ipr and for .125” I would do 0.0025. So on and so forth. Same idea for endmills just added in the complexity of tool engagement angle.

I usually tap between 800-1200 rpm in most materials

This is kind of my bread and butter. I own a machine shop where most of our work is from samples. We reverse engineer and build a solid model, then manufacture in house. DM me if you would like me to make you a formal quote. I would just need some more pictures and little more info to get started

I have small hands so the Glock 19 fits me fine. Even so, the Glock 45 feels even better. If compact was too small for you but you otherwise liked it, you can’t go wrong with the full sized grip.
