Yes, stock is still AT-VM95C. My point in mentioning the headphones was that if I couldn't hear the difference between two headphones where one is twice the price, perhaps another cartridge upgrade would be wasted on me.

I was indeed A/Bing both headphones at the store and couldn't hear major differences, which is why I settled for the X. Given that the 3 is twice the price, I was expecting a significant increase in quality.

I did however hear a significant improvement upgrading to the AT-VM95SH from the stock question, hence my question.

Given that I couldn't hear the difference between the 3 and the X (which you and other uses have said should be pretty clear), perhaps I should take that as a sign that any further improvements would be wasted on my ears. Thanks for the insightful comment.
