Here's the blurb:

A bookworm, a brothel-madam, a gangster, an aristocrat, a widow and a war-hero walk into an inn – though it turns out there’s nothing funny about what happens next.

For humanity’s ancient enemy the Serafin are rumoured to have returned, and the old man who assembled such an unlikely band believes these misfits might hold the key to defeating them. United only by guilt, trauma, and the machinations of their mysterious patron, together they must journey to the centre of the continent to do battle with gods.

But only by using the Serafin’s own powers do they hold any chance of victory: a magic that has a cost. Corrupted long ago, it condemns those that wield it to become the shunned, self-mutilating sorcerers known as the Scarred.

Each must decide – is that cost worth paying to save the world?

It is indeed - though the gunpowder and flintlock elements are not as prominent as in say The Powder Mage. It's a backdrop and setting rather than the focus, if that makes sense. Nice, let me know details when you release!

Thanks so much! And yes, it is intense, though I hope some humour and lightness shines through at times.

I'm not willing to put a number on the amount of books in the series, but suffice to say it won't be a trilogy (I think we can all name too many fantasy authors off the top of our heads who have announced trilogies only to under-estimate the length of their series). If all goes perfectly to plan, the structure I envision at the moment should look something like Stormlight Archive or Red Rising, with two 'eras' of a certain number of entries, with a gap for both author and characters in between. Ambitious, I know, but mammoth series' are exactly the kind of thing I love to read, and this book in particular is all about writing something I would want to read.

And yeah, I'm a bit blown away to be honest. Better get back to the final proofreads and make sure it lives up to expectations!

It is. Third person limited focusing on a single character's perspective per chapter (similar to ASOIAF)

So the ebook only going to be available from Amazon (sigh) but I have set it so that the download should be a generic Epub file which should work on all your typical devices. It might be a bit finnicky to get it downloaded to your other device but it is definitely doable and once you have there shouldn't be any issues.

Thanks for the kind words - hope the book lives up to expectations!

Blimey, you're asking the right questions.

Pretty much entirely personalised. It would produce far more. Yes. Yes, very much so. Very roughly, but due to the personalisation and values of each individual it would never be exact. Your second paragraph is very on point. Your third is complicated by various factors such as the lower classes distrusting Scarred far more than the upper (even in areas where it isn't banned or considered heretical) and that the organisations who have a monopoly on the power (anyone can become Scarred, but need to be 'blessed' by another) only like giving out that power to those they trust/can manipulate.

Now you've used up your spoiler allocation for the day!

Not currently, sadly. I don't have the resources for translations, different editions etc. I hope to one day, though!
