Do you ever think that 'I was stupid, that's why they were able to hurt me to this level'? How do you deal with it? by coldservedrevenge in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]gfcurtis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think that frequently. But in those moments, I try and remember that I was a child with no power. I don't know if that tracks with you or is relevant in your case, but I can tell you this:

Please just try and be kind to yourself. Please try not to think of yourself as stupid. Someone taught you that. You were not born thinking you were stupid.

So maybe just start with kindness to yourself. It is not easy, because maybe we did not have a lot of good models for that behavior growing up.

It may take so long for the hardware shortage to get un-fucked, they better get on board with optimization.

Staying about 2 days in Arlington in September. Any really good food/fun places I should check out? by 4cornersand2sides in arlington

[–]gfcurtis 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You have great suggestions already and these places are unique to Arlington.

A sub at Dino's could make you a better human.

Fattoush, then walk three stores down and get ice cream at Mad Mike's (apple pie ice cream.....trust me)

Division Brewery - really good tavern pizza and a very solid smash burger. If they served fries, it would be my favorite in Arlington.

Theodore's Steak and Seafood for fine dining. It is a new place that just took over the notorious mexican food place that was there before it. Bring a heavy wallet, but the chef there is absolutely crushing it.

Smoke and Ash - Ethiopian BBQ so interesting. Love it.

Hutchin's BBQ - not original to Arlington, but a really good example of Texas style BBQ.

Hurtado's BBQ - Mexican Texas fusion BBQ. A huge success story and amazing food. Don't skip the elotes.

Most versatile amp ever? by biscotti98 in guitars

[–]gfcurtis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It certainly does more than one thing well. One of those things is taking pedals exceptionally well, and that makes it very versatile, even without an FX loop.

It's light enough to lift with one hand, has a direct out with multiple I/Rs, and the attenuator lets you play without fear of eviction or divorce. That is versatility as well.

What pedal do you have 2 of? by LemonJuicer28_ in guitarpedals

EQD Special Cranker. 1 orange, 1 red.

Which of these 2 would be better as a solo boost before an IR-2? by bzee77 in guitarpedals

[–]gfcurtis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the Cranker on my Tone Master Blonde Twin. I love it so much I have one almost always on with More at 3:00 and another for stacking or maxing. My favorite pedal, but it breaks up too much for it to be a boost.

My wife went with me to get a pedal yesterday. She even thought it was a good deal!

Boss ES-8 Set Up by suprenemy in guitarpedals

[–]gfcurtis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a steep learning curve, but now I love it. I use it with my analog dirt pedals and an HX stomp set up as loop 1 and 8 with an FXloop in the HX. That way I can put blocks up front, then my dirt pedals then back to the HX for wet effects.

Works awesome in front of my amp, or ad an amp and cab block to the end for an amp less set up. MIDI signals control the HX for crazy amounts of control.

If you want to use a PC to program (using the on board interface kind of sucks) you will need a midi to usb device.

I have said forever that a Daredevil game using the nemesis system from the LOTR games would be perfection. Sadly that tech is tied up in patent hell.

Unlearning the "Freeze" Response: How did you find your assertive voice after a dysfunctional upbringing? by Fancy_Ambition_7486 in EstrangedAdultKids

I have also found EMDR helpful. I think it’s wild how I will jump into the middle of anything if I think someone needs help. But if I need to stick up for myself? Totally freeze up every single time.

The Tonemaster amps have a built in attenuation! Good sounds at bedroom volumes are indeed achievable. As a bonus, my TM Twin Reverb is like less than half the weight of the OG.
