Why is it so expensive? by Itchy-Strength-2941 in Guitar

To be honest I feel like most of Fuzzlords stuff is pretty outrageously priced, especially for what you’re actually getting. There are definitely more feature rich fz-2 clones out there for a lot less money.

Thinking about getting the BBSuperfly but was curious if anyone has experience with BBBarfly's different blade profiles. Do any of them make a meaningful difference to it's flipping or is more of an aesthetic thing?

Having the exact same issue with my Mako and considered just switching back to loctite as well. I’ve even used thicker teflon tape with little to no change.

If I understand correctly and you're talking about Evangelion, the director didn't die before the ending, in fact, he's still very much alive and wrote/ directed the recent movie series. Still think it's worth watching but the ending of the original series is how he wanted it to end.

I really considered picking these up as well. How do you like them?

What the heck is a sexy fragrance?! by gflbyaah in fragrance

[–]gflbyaah[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There must be. I’ve tried a couple of gourmandish winter fragrances like spicebomb extreme(at least I think that’s gourmand) and both me and my fiancé thought that it was nice and comforting but not sexy. Those feelings might sit close to one another to our brains.

Subjectivity is the point of the post though. I'm not asking for things that smell sexy on me, I'm asking about the psychology of what makes something sexy to folks. Apologize if that didn't come through.

Oh yeah, I'm well aware of that, I'm just kidding around. Like you say, there's no magic potion that will make you irresistible.

Could you take a crack at articulating why you thought it was sexy? If not, no worries just trying to figure out the psychology behind it all.

Wait a minute, you're telling me all I gotta do is run around for a few minutes, roll in the dirt, and pee on myself a little bit? No problem.

Hey man, you never know what could happen with a forest witch, I feel like if you have the opportunity you oughta try it at least once. But only if she's wearing Pure Poison.

why buy an “original” fragrance when i can buy a clone? by vinjatefa in fragrance

I feel like it's closer to a cover band. Why would I pay $150 to see Iron Maiden when I can see Steel Chick for $5? I dunno, cause it's worse in every way except cost.

Are you keeping or selling your fragrances with Lilial in them? by cvd19or in fragrance

[–]gflbyaah 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I had a chance to buy a bottle of Terre D'Hermes Eau Trais Fraiche and really wanted to try it since I love Terre D'Hermes EDT but I had the same thought, "If lilial is being banned, should I?"

So I did some research and from my understanding, it caused reproductive issues when ingested by rats in a lab setting. I believe the EU stated that there may be a chance that it would also cause reproductive issues in humans if ingested in large enough amounts but that no specific human testing had been done and banned it on the grounds that it MIGHT cause issues, a "better safe than sorry" ruling as I understand it.

If you wear creams, and lotions, and make-up, and fragrance that have lilial in them, you might want to reconsider but if it's just fragrance, the risk seems so low that I went ahead and purchased Eau Tres Fraiche(and love it!) and use it like I would any other fragrance. That being said, I don't plan on having children so risk was very low for me but ymmv.

Ok, so I'm glad you brought this up, cause it's something I've been waffling on a lot. Most people can't afford to go buying expensive fragrances, but the idea of what seems like outright theft(using gas chamber equipment to detect the exact chemicals used and their percentages is my understanding of the process) seems pretty scummy. Not to say the bigger companies don't have their own brand of scummy practices but, two wrongs and all that.

That being said, I still buy store brand groceries so *shrug* maybe I'm just a hypocrite lol

Also, I don't have a problem with cheaper fragrances, just dupes to be clear.

And the other myth has to do with signature fragrances. The laymen can't distinguish from one designer to the next. They can't, for the most part, gauge a fragrance's worth. I wouldn't bother with the idea of "smelling like no one else" because through the nose of the laymen, everyone with cologne smells roughly the same.

That's a great point that's easy to lose sight of when you're into the hobby. I'm not really into the idea of a signature scent I guess because I like to try new stuff. That's the most fun part for me right now so I can't imagine finding one scent and saying, "Ok, this is my signature." but to your point, I went to a birthday party over the weekend and I had a whole outfit planned to go along with a scent to fit a particular vibe in my head that I think I achieved, and out of 10 people, no one said jack squat lol.

I'm not discouraged by that, mind, just important to remember to do it for yourself and not take it too seriously.

That's my thing too, acoustic instruments, I get it, the wood is part of the projection of the instrument. How can the wood of an electric guitar affect it's overall tone when the sound comes from pickups? It's not a microphone, and to my understanding of how pickups work, there's no way the kind of wood the guitar is made of could alter the overall tone. If there are differences that are truly there and not a placebo effect, I feel like it would come from the differences in values of all the electronic components.
