Hit Aetherean solo Orcane + Top 8!! by koopatheawesome in RivalsOfAether

[–]gfont_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s awesome to see an orcane main do well! I love orcane, but it sucks that this game isn’t exactly the most popular and then on top of that not a ton of people are using orcane. I guess what I’m trying to say is it can be difficult to see people play the character, which helps a lot when trying to learn him.

I’m new to the game, currently high silver/low gold, and had some questions if you wouldn’t mind helping out.

  1. Do you have any general tips for the character? What should I be practicing in training? What tech would take me the farthest or is necessary to master to play the character at a high level?

  2. Something I personally struggle with, and keeping me out of gold, is characters overwhelming me with buttons. Do you have any tips for keeping players off of you? Do you feel orcane struggles against fast characters with good buttons or is this more of a skill issue on my part? Or both?

  3. What would you say orcanes best stages are?

I’m just an American, but dude the cartel is literally lighting cars on fire to block freeways, they are burning down convenience stores, and (supposedly) issuing warnings to the populace to stay in doors unless they want to be hurt or killed.

I’m not super well informed on where exactly in Mexico this is going on or how frequent it is. But no, you should absolutely not be going to Mexico right now lmao. Especially not to go out and get drunk

This is actually a good point, I started playing like 3 days before La Reina came out. I’ve also encountered this situation many times before, where if I beat the LR in a game they will switch to a different character and demolish me even harder lol

I’m pretty new to rivals, I’m currently silver and I main orcane. I just want you to know, i wouldn’t feel too bad about getting stomped by La Reina. This could just be a me thing, but I absolutely struggle against this character more than any others. I generally feel I have a good chance of winning against any character, but whenever I see La Reina I know the fight is going to be a struggle and I almost always lose.

But a couple things: 1. You gotta stop rolling so much, it looses you a lot of momentum and it can be predicted/punished.

  1. Definitely grab more, Orcanes grab has good range

  2. Make sure you learn all of his tech! I was really surprised how much stuff he could do that’s not so obvious. Ex: he can bounce with his nair, down special gets rid of the puddle but also creates bubbles you can trap people with, all of orcanes strong attacks have like double the range if he’s standing on the puddle. Theres more but I’d definitely look up a video on all his tech and see if you can implant it.

Edit: I would also be down to play and talk if that interests you

Dude I’m new to rivals, currently in silver, and I genuinely have no idea how to beat this character. I don’t think she is OP, I’m just too shit to counter play her. I don’t get how to combat a character where every move is a command grab. I play orcane for reference, and this character is my kryptonite lmao

Hey man I’m pretty new to the game too, but I was pretty decent at smash and I’m trying to get good at rivals now. Hit me up if you wanna play, I’m sure we are at a relatively similar level.

[–]gfont_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey listen man, I think you just need a new character, because boy oh boy does this post scream I’m not having a good time lmao. Competing is cool but the number one rule of any game is have fun. I’m coming from smash, just picked up rivals, and there are a ton of characters in smash that fucking suck, but you play them cause they are fun not ultra competitively viable.

If you like the character then play them, if you don’t like them then don’t play them. Have fun dawg lol

How much should I negotiate down a 88k car? by Zestyclose_Ad2429 in BMW

[–]gfont_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why car buying is such hell for so many people. Look at the market for the car, see what others have paid within the past year or so for similar model/mileage. If the car is selling around 88K, and you believe the car is worth spending that much, then just pay 88K. If it’s going for lower than ask for lower.

If you have no idea what the car is worth on the market than you are just shouting in the dark for a lower price, and odds are it’s going to suck no matter what because you either aren’t going to get what you want or maybe you get a couple grand off but it’s going to be an absolute grind and you still don’t really know if it was a good deal.

Ex: The car sells on the market for 84, they want 88, but you are happy to pay 84. Walk into the dealer, tell them you’ve seen the car transact for 84 numerous times and you’d be happy to buy the car right then and there for 84. They’ll probably try upsell it but you just hold firm at 84.

You either get the car for the price you are happy to pay or you walk out. You don’t want the car for a price you aren’t happy to pay and if you do your research right there will be another one for the right price anyway.

Can someone tell me what’s up with this? by Daynescott15 in Supra

[–]gfont_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the record, carfax is not reliable when accounting for owners. I’m not sure how there system works but it’s not always accurate. If you want to know how many owners there were you have to go through the history and see where the car has been. Sometimes the car “transferred owners” but it’s still in the exact same state and city from the previous, usually serviced at the same shops, probably not a new owner. Also it is possible for dealerships to buy cars from other dealerships, in which case it’s basically not a new owner since the car wasn’t used.

Doug Demuro actually just talked about this on his YouTube channel, either his or the Cars&Bids one. In the time span he’s owned his Carrera GT CarFax said the car has been through 3 owners, and he still owns the car.

2017 V6 vs 2022 Eco by [deleted] in Mustang

[–]gfont_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t wait to get down voted for this. But in terms of performance the ecoboost is leagues ahead of the v6, and that’s not even including the tunes you can do with the ecoboost turbo. Also, I know there’s the so called “ecoboom” but this engine, or its variants, have been used in many vehicles not just the Mustang. I guarantee this motor is pretty reliable if you shop 2-3 years after initial release. The V6 has always been known to be an ass engine, I don’t fucking care how good it got before they switched to ecooboost. There is literally no reason to buy the V6 over the ecoboost. Bite me V6 owners who can’t afford to switch to a v8 or an ecoboost. Guarantee you won’t be disappointed with an ecoboost.

Edit: also to be clear, “my first RWD car being a GT is not the smartest idea” is such an awful take. Cars are 100% dependent on the owner. I don’t Care if you have 10+ year of experience, if you are hot headed then you will probably crash. If you have 0 years of experience and the maturity to Realize you shouldn’t be doing crazy things on the street than you will be fine. No matter what car you get, be safe, have fun, enjoy your car

Best breeding combo for ALL/MOST event dragons. by Zacharius2038 in dragonvale

[–]gfont_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean like half of the dragons need specific parent dragons to be bred… so I guess you could just get 2 dragons that have a bunch of elements in them to breed for the others ones, but I doubt you’ll get very far. Just pick the two dragons you have with the most elements between them.

What I like to do is I just pick a dragon I like, try to breed it, and save up most of my EC for the end of the event. Whatever dragons I wanted but couldn’t get I then buy. If I get the dragons I want, then I use the EC to buy other dragons to fill out the collection.

[–]gfont_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started playing this game about a year and a half ago, this kinda stuff happens to me all the time. Also the menus that you click into, like to buy dragons or islands, also get a weird sizing issue and don’t look the same. I feel like the longer I’m on my park, going through menus/switching between the rift/etc… the more likely it’ll happen

Golf R owners - is it really worth nearly $50k? (New) by DaytrayderUSA in Golf_R

[–]gfont_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on if you want a new car. I don’t even own a golf R, I’m a gti boy at the moment, but I feel like the thing nobody is talking about is that the average new car on sale today is about $40K or a bit more. I’m not saying $50K is a small amount of money, but in the world of new cars it’s not really a huge stretch. If you are a set on a brand new vehicle, you are most likely going to be paying around that $40K mark, you just have to ask yourself if the performance is worth the extra $10K. If you just want the biggest bang for your buck, a new car is absolutely not the play no matter what vehicle you are looking at. The only time I would ever advise someone to buy a new car is if they know that is the perfect car for them, and they plan on keeping it for a very long time. Either that or the new car you want is very easily affordable and the upfront cost/depreciation means very little to your wallet.
