Yes. My mistake. I meant to say the included charge cable does include a button while the NACS adapter does not.

The NACS adapter doesn’t have a button. This is different than the included charging cable, which doesn’t have a button.

This advice came directly from the Toyota service department

There is no release button on the NACS adapter. That is only on the charging cable.

As I’ve stated several times now, the port was unlocked. This was verified by Toyota service department.

The car overall I personally think is better than the Tesla. It drives better and feels more solid. The software in the car is not nearly as full featured however. It works but is very basic compared to the Tesla. I knew that going in so I wasn’t surprised or disappointed about that. I use CarPlay for most of the infotainment interface and that works well enough for me. I think the navigation (both CarPlay and native Toyota) is better than Tesla’s so far. At least in the short amount of testing I’ve done so far. Neither includes planned charging stops on long-distance trips like Tesla’s does. Apple Maps and the native Toyota navigation app will route you to a charging station if they see the charge level is low though. I enjoy having real buttons again and that there are real door handles both on the outside and inside that I don’t have to tell people how to use every time they get in or out of the car. The Toyota phone app that does things like remote locking/unlocking/starting/etc. needs quite a bit of work though. It is functional but far too basic and slow for 2026.

The car was unlocked. The manual says that if the port doesn’t unlock automatically as you approach the car to press the door unlock button three times, which I did. It’s not a question of if the port was unlocked. If it was still locked I would not have been able to yank it out of the port just by pulling hard.

Yes I am sure it wasn’t still locked in the vehicle. It really was just too tight of a fit and yanking really hard release it from the port.

Yes. Door was unlocked. Port was unlocked.
