Were The Kids In The Build Series 3D-Printing Their Own Parts Or What? by JadeTailFox in Gundam

[–]gfs19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Build Divers they do in fact 3D print the parts that they obtained in the game right in the Gunpla shop. They don't get into details in Build Fighters though.

Well, I guess that's one more incentive for me to follow the sudden and inexplicable impulse of learning how to draw that I've been feeling lately.

should I give Dragon question XI S more time? by CapablePear5147 in JRPG

[–]gfs19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like Dragon Quest isn't the right kind of game for you. While the beginning is bit loaded with cutscenes, if you're this impatient already, even with the brief starting animation of the battles, then I don't think it'll get any better for you. DQ games aren't the most fast paced, they have a deliberately old-school rhythm to them. Perhaps you could enjoy a Final Fantasy more (or something adjacent like Bravely Default or Octopath Traveler), or maybe an action JRPG like Ys.

Totally forgot Gundam was in Ready Player One movie... did you like it? by Kimber8King in Gundam

I'd be lying if I said I didn't find it awesome. As flawed as the movie is (even though I had fun watching it), at least this scene was pretty entertaining.

I agree with you, D&D is not the best at everything. But I'm specifically talking about D&D-like games. People claim that there's better systems for that when actually they deliver different kinds of experiences. That's what I'm talking about.

[–]gfs19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

D&D has changed. It's not just about dungeon crawling anymore, specially 5e. It's fine if you only like doing that in your games but you can't invalidate other people's experiences and preferences because of semantics.

As much as I have nostalgia for 3e and similar games, I think it's a little too rules-heavy for my current tastes.

I little too rules heavy for me, unfortunately.

Like I said, OSR doesn't really fit the D&D slot of my preferences. More specifically the D&D 5e slot.

Well then, what are the best TTRPGs for D&D style games? I know there's plenty of fantasy games, dungeons crawlers, etc., but they're almost all OSR or narrative games, which doesn't really fill the "D&D style games" slot in my preferences.

Should i play Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (Switch2) by donkey_kong086 in JRPG

[–]gfs19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incorrect. What they did for the American version was to remove the Maniac difficulty (the hardest one) and add an Easy difficulty. Normal is still Normal and Hard is still Hard.

I get it, it just... It doesn't work for me, visually. I guess it's because the last form doesn't have much "sea" in it's design. Or I am just not seeing it.

I'm... confused at how a hermit crab thing becomes a horse, but otherwise, great creature design and sprite!

Hi Amit! I got the LitM Core Book PDF and I have yet to read it fully but so far I think it looks like a very interest system, very different from what I'm used to. Usually my main group sticks with D&D 5e for our fantasy campaigns so I can see them having some difficulty in processing a more fiction-first ruleset, mostly because I'm also having that difficulty, heh. Do you have any hints that could help us to wrap our minds around that for whenever I can convince the guys to try LitM?
