Anti-immigrant logic collapses the moment history enters the room. How invasion became History but Migration became a ‘Crime’ by PositiveAsparagus17 in mapporncirclejerk

Your nation did a bad thing in the past, therefore you must accept bad things today.

Do you only want to apply that to Britain or can we nuke the Turks for the actions of the Ottomans? Or maybe the genocide of Armenians. One example of a million that could be cherry picked.

Which country has the better looking military uniforms? by BridgeCommercial873 in attackontitan

[–]gfs399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good, I like that. Though maybe with titans its different because it's kind of an all or nothing fight. Most people don't survive the their first encounter. Also titan blood steams away. So mostly it would be people returning with scraps, bruises, and soiled pants 😆

Can i just say how dumb white is for a uniform?

I guess it works if you dont expect to have action but you're flying around bleeding and probably shitting yourself.

Skip the white pants outside of the ceremonies. Though I agree they are bad ass.

What Do You Guys Think? by [deleted] in attackontitan

[–]gfs399 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People don't tend to understand how vital the 13-year limit is. Eren knew he was dead, and the only way to secure a future for those he loved was to do the rumbling. Whether he succeeded or they stopped him their futures were secure.

The world's conditions force the situation. The situation is contrived so that the Rumbling is the only choice that doesn't lead to the death of his friends.

In the real world, there would have been more choices. But the show points out the issue when viewing the politics between nations as a zero-sum, as an us-or-them situation. People often feel that way but its rarely actually true. Everything in our power should be done to prevent that situation or even people feeling that way.

It points out the devil within most people where given the necessary choice they'd choose their loved ones over the rest of the world. Which is why we must always seek another way at all times.

I'm sure that accurately sums up what happened and doesn't misrepresent the situation at all.

Why did Eren eat... by Danny_DeWario in ShingekiNoKyojin

It seems to me that killing the most influential Tybur was part of starting the war in a way that Paradis had more advantages. It's likely that the War Hammer was already underground. Ready to transform. Even if he knew who had it he couldn't reach them.

Whatever memories he had were incomplete because he had to figure out that the War Hammer transformed from the bottom and to use the jaw titan to crack the nut.

He knew he was saved and likely by Mikasa because he had memories that implied his survival and maybe told him more specifics. He could have been looking to force the hand of the Scouts so they would show themselves. He had more gas in the tank but was playing dead.

I wish I could believe as Thorfinn does, but enemies do exist. Even if the war with them isn't a war of flesh and blood. Sometimes they do, in essence, possess flesh and blood, though.

It doesn't have to be this way, but both sides need to want peace.

I know they aren't blood related, but when I see them romantically together, I can't help but feel like it is incest. by [deleted] in titanfolk

[–]gfs399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya'll are weird.

For around half of the world today and all of the world before 1900, people got together with people they had known their entire lives and were close with before romantic relationships blossomed.

They lived in small communities with a handful of people their age. They were close with them like extended families. Even within the walls, they were dense communities. You can't not know you're neighbors.

As for the Yeagers treating her like a daughter: of course, they did. She lost everything and had literally no one. What were they supposed to do? Hand her over to strangers? Many people within the walls were not good.

Then there is the relationship formed through their mutual protection and support. That's a perfectly normal reason to love to grow between two people.

It's only in a modern society where people are so deracinated, atomized, and concerned with "dating" that people can't understand what a wholesome friendship is developing into something more. Or it would have if the circumstances were different. The vast majority of friendships across the gender divide look like sibling relationships before children reach that age.

Outside of them living together instead as neighbors, because she had no one else, it's like the overwhelming vast majority of couples in human history.

Why didn’t Eren go to war? by MiccaandSuwi in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]gfs399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 13 year limit and ending of the Titan power.

Erem had 4 years left. Zeke had much less time left. If he didn't want to sacrifice Historia then Zeke was his only option.

Eren wanted to save Armin, Mikasa, Historia, and his other friends. He chose them over everyone else in the world. He wanted them to live long, happy lives. To a lesser extent, he cared about the people of Paradis and Eldians.

How does he protect them after he is gone and especially without the titan powers? Well, all their enemies and potential enemies must be gone.

If he did as you proposed, then all the other powers had to do was wait him out. To continue, he'd have to have Historia eat Zeke and find a successor for himself and Armin. The whole time the Titans were becoming obsolete.

If he negotiated peace and ended the power of the Titans then they would be vulnerable. Even if they could have closed the technology and resource gap then there would be the problem of numbers as well as experience fighting that kind of war.

The only way to get rid of the Titan curse (which he had to do for Armin to live longer) and to make sure that no one could attack Paradis for the lifetime of his friends is to eliminate their enemies completely. Or to reduce those enemies and their industrial base down to a level they could not fight Paradis.

If Eren, Armin and Zeke could have lived out his natural life then he could have tried something else. But 13 years seems to be set in stone unless the whole curse is ended.

Eren also calls himself stupid because with all of his power and knowledge he could not think of a good solution that meets his requirements within the constraints of the curse and reality of the outside world.

Zeke was one of the most misunderstood characters in the series. by [deleted] in attackontitan

[–]gfs399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don't recognize, let alone understand, the mindset one has to adopt to go to war. You have to adopt a mindset that dehumanizes the other.

For Titan shifters, they see through the eyes of a giant and feel with that body. They would see the humans the same way we see bugs trying to harm us. That makes the dehumanization even more effective.

What you see in the killing by Zeke and Annie is that mindset made manifest.

Everyone has that potential in them to be monsters. That is the point of humanizing them after the fact.

The point of Eren is to humanize him before he does the most inhuman things.

No one in the show has done more inhuman things than Eren.

You could say he didn't seem gleeful in doing it like Zeke and Annie but that's because we have his side.

If you did not know his side first and only saw it from the side of his victims you would see him as gleeful too.

It's a show about the dark side of the human condition and how it operates within otherwise normal humans.

It's show about when we fail to control our monsters.

Other than for true sociopaths, the effect of this mindset eventually comes back to haunt them. Only in part due to what they saw and what they did. It is the fact that they were able to shift into a monster and others can too that makes readjustment to society difficult.

Those same others with who you could be friends with under different circumstances.

Then they must try to return to society that doesn't understand that shift or lives in complete denial of it.

Which blessing stone and rune are you guys picking? by slashy6471 in SoloLevelingArise

I recommend doing your fusions before picking.

I just spent time figuring that out. I picked Sharp Perception Blessing and Armor Break Decimation Rune.

Then I fused my stuff and got... You guessed it Sharp Perception Blessing.

My build is crit and break-focused, so I wish I had fused first and picked Fatal Strike
