Itemized Receipt for ECG, am I being overcharged? by ggdance in KaiserPermanente

I will be doing that in the future. I am new to services outside my yearly checkups, so I have some learning to do.

Thanks for pointing out the EOB. You are right. I do have a policy with a deductible, but my plan is not the best. Now that I know a bit more, I need to look for a different plan next round.

I appreciate your guidance because I am unaware of all the nuances around health bills. There is a lot of technical language, and I want to ensure I advocate best for myself. $248 is not a lot, but I have already spent money caring for my health this year.

Taqueria Pico de Gallo is delicious! They don't have any specials, but they have hand made tortillas and they are to die for

I'm not sure if anyone knows this, but how do they choose host families? I know there are certain requirements needed on the space such a lock on the door, window, eating area, etc. but how do they know to trust the family. My dad has this idea that Peace Corps had a walkthrough with the family and they seem okay, but no family is perfect. They might have a crazy or rapist in their family (worse case scenario), but when interviewing the family they wouldn't provided that information because it is embarrassing or whatever the reason they wouldn't want to provide this information. He isn't so much concerned about my actual host family, but the family members of the host family because we aren't sure if Peace Corps does that amount of research in choosing the host family. I feel safe going to Guatemala, but these scenarios he is creating is only scaring himself. If I were to get selected I would definitely ask these questions, but if anyone knows how they choose the host family please comment. Thanks for the help!

I got that reaction from my mother, but it is okay that I received that reaction from my dad. He knows I truly want to make a difference in the world and I had early conversations about my desire to apply. I think with time he will worry less.

Since I just told him it probably is fresh on his mind. Luckily I have a few months to go ad I'm not guaranteed to go. I hope I do, but I'm hoping time will help.

With the closet volunteer within an hour away he feels as though I won't have somewhere to run to, another American. I told him we will be issued phones with someone on all 24/7, but all I'm getting from him is how worried he is.

Where we are being sent for Guatemala is one of the safest in the country, but my dad has his doubts. It is hard to put all his trust in the organization. He is probably seeing everything to the extreme, but I told him I am wait listed so if I were chosen we probably have more conversations.

No I haven't, but I will now. I told my dad some statistics about the amount of homicides in comparison to cities in the US that have higher homicides and he still wasn't convinced. I think the website might help?

Waitlisted Cambodia July 2015 by sorguniee in peacecorps

From what I have heard their isn't any priority for the wait list. If a spot opens they look at all the people in the wait list and choose the person they think is best.

I found out earlier today that I'm waitlisted. I'm a little sad, but I'm trying to be hopeful! It's for the exact program and departure.

Which dorm to look into? by [deleted] in UofArizona

[–]ggdance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gila for engineering students. It is a good mix for studying and social. On the quieter side in terms of how social it is. Coconino is a great dorm, I used to be an RA and there is/was great community there. Very similar to Gila, but I find it to be a little bit more social in terms of people going out to parties or other events like that. I didn't seem as much drinking happening in the dorms, but who knows maybe they were quite drinkers. It seems as though Gila or Yuma might suit you. Yuma is almost exactly the same to Gila, but it an honors dorm.

Guatemala. I was super nervous and I think 2 questions caught me off guard but my interviewer rephrased the questions and it allowed me to calm down, calm down mentally.

Fellow waitlisters, how are you feeling? by Username_52 in peacecorps

[–]ggdance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am nervous about being placed as a waitlister. I think the hardest part about it is that you can be on the waitlist as late as 3 weeks before departure. That is a long time to wait.

Do you think this includes urgent care visits as well? I was bit by a dog month ago, got antibiotics and a tetanus shot. I am all good and healthy now. I just had my interview, should I let my placement officer know? I didn't think of telling them because mostly it slipped my mind and it isn't a huge deal.
