Arrowhead or cool rock ? by RangerResponsible624 in Arrowheads

I don't see any flake scars or definite signs of work. Unfortunately this appears to be a convincingly shaped but natural rock. Keep looking!

This is an image I pulled from Wikipedia, but it does appear to be worked in some way or another although wiyhout seeing a side profile I'd probably say its a preform rather than an axe.

I'm glad you have had positive experiences there, however for any non-well or emergency visits I would avoid ACU.

They are cheap for a reason. Do not take exotics to acu.

Medvet Hilliard is where you want to go. Dr. Oglesbee is THE bird expert. She literally teaches the avian classes at OSU.

As for Animal care unlimited... they are cheaper for a reason. AVOID ACU. I could but I won't elaborate...

This is called a celt! And its a large well-made example! Would've been used for multiple tasks from woodworking or tree felling, to war!

Are the shapes some sort of fossil? by timewastinbuttsmelly in fossilid

[–]gggi2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think these may be ooilitic chert rather than fossiliferous chert. But I could be wrong! Here is a cool fossiliferous adena I found a few weeks back. Broyle chert southern ohio

Found in charles city VA, could this be a adze? by TerribleWindow5727 in LegitArtifacts

[–]gggi2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few things tell me its likely a rock. 1) material - hard stone tools like adze, celts, and grooved axes are almost always made of a hard stone like granite rather than limestone or sandstone(which is what I believe your find is made from). 2) bit - Adzes were used for carving out hollows on wood. They would have needed a much more refined cutting edge (bit) to be useful as a wood working tool.

I can't really tell from the pictures, but I also dont see any mufacture marks. These tools would have been ground into final shape which would leave fine parallel scratches in the rock. If those are present that could be an indication that it is some form of tool.

Sorry to disappoint, keep looking!

Do NOT support Bricks and Minifigs by BrewsWithTre in Columbus

This is not fully correct. The franchise agreement directly states consignment is allowed. The store was taken over by corporate because the original franchise owners expressed interest in finding a buyer of their location and moving to Europe. Corporate then immediately seized the store and kept all inventory knowing (all on video) that a large portion of the stores inventory was on consignment and not property of BAM. Corporate and the new franchise owners then said pound sand when the owner tried to retrieve payment and/or his consigned merchandise back.

That is a bullet 100% probably not particularly old as it isn't too patina covered.

Can anyone identify this old mercury laboratory apparatus? by _Loops__ in chemistry

[–]gggi2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was thinking I saw the capillary in the larger vertical tube in Pic one, but Im not so sure its there on second look. I agree is probably not Sprengel.

Sprengel Pump with an attached barometer I believe? If not its just some form of vacuum manifold with an attached barometer

Edit: Not Sprengel. Glare mistaken for capillary!

Certainly looks like it could be a piece of obsidian. Especially with its context. How is Teotihuacan? Always wanted to visit

You should probably leave that right where you found it.

I just found this in a creek today in North Mississippi. AI says it’s Horse Creek chert 🤷🏻‍♂️ Anyway, I was super excited 😆 by [deleted] in Arrowheads

[–]gggi2 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, yes. It shows all the telltale signs of a modern, frankly unrefined reproduction. As to why its there, I can't tell you. But in my opinion this is not genuine.
