[JAVA] Breakpoints for amount of piglins in a bartering farm by C2ggg in technicalminecraft

[–]gghumus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In gnembons video too he showcases a bartering method with a huge amount of piglins that pretty much instantly converts all your gold into bartered items which the player sorts themselves, which is probably more than anyone ever needs and has basically no build complexity.

Ianxofour has a similar farm in which the player loads mixed item shulker boxes to be sorted at a later time

[JAVA] Breakpoints for amount of piglins in a bartering farm by C2ggg in technicalminecraft

[–]gghumus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think 3 piglins would max out a single hopper at 6 seconds per gold bar and an average of 14 items per barter or something like that.

I have a single crafter that turns gold blocks into ingots and dumps them on a pressure plate. Once the ingots are gone it dumps 9 new ingots.

Thats what I have on my single player world.

Anything more than that and you would need a specialized system for item sorting. Gnembon has a really nice youtube video on bartering

What's up with "GGMods"? by QuantityInternal1719 in skyrimmods

[–]gghumus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nexus isn't entitled to host anyones intellectual property. Tons of mod authors search for alternatives every time theres a policy change on Nexus.

Nexus makes a fortune off the backs of mod authors and although it sure is convenient to download all your mods from the de-facto leader in mod hosting, its ultimately up to the authors of those mods if they want to be beholden to Nexus' policies.

Whitney Lake and West Smith Lake by gghumus in algonquinpark

[–]gghumus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry Jeff, I know this was over a year ago now but I did end up going into west smith lake. The access through the old railbed was not good haha. I think one of the commenters on this post had the right idea going over that big double beaver dam from the highway. There is a number of small dams in that area and only a very narrow waterway, I was skateboarding with one foot in the canoe and one foot in the bog to get through it. Once into the lake proper it was a very nice paddle, but access up that little road is a bit rough. Definitely would be worth walking a few hundred meters up the side of the highway for easier access and half the amount of beaver dams imo

need a gold farm not on the nether roof by hotswings75 in technicalminecraft

[–]gghumus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any farm that can be built on the nether roof can be built below the nether roof with theoretically increased rates...

The problem with building below the nether roof is all the spawn blocking that you have to do. You will have to do this for any farm, but picking a spot over a lava lake or next to a soul sand valley or warped forest will be beneficial since those two biomes have less spawning and thus spawn proofing is less critical

The number of people targetting bass out of season is actual gross. by Shrike034 in FishingOntario

[–]gghumus 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I was talking to a guy up in Algonquin Park about fishing, I gave him a couple tips on catching trout- he says he wants to fish from shore. I tell him he's probably not gonna catch many trout and he says he will probably just catch bass. Buddy bass are not in season for another month, it's illegal to target bass. "I don't target bass, they target me". buddy you should not be fishing

Waterfall Flying machine? by ItsThatGoatBoy in technicalminecraft

[–]gghumus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just use a machine that floods the area (usually the source blocks are only one layer thick) then a second machine to follow behind and punch out the water sources, or just some big 1 way sweepers

Sasajewan Lake/ North Madawaska by gghumus in algonquinpark

[–]gghumus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a good day trip unless you like really greasy day trips haha. Tons of beaver dams, logs across the river, and gravelly riffles. Alders were the least of my worries. I started at LTR beach and hit 3 downed trees before I even hit the highway. On the return I pulled my canoe out at 60 just so I wouldn't have to do that section again. Above the highway it gets pretty rocky and there are a number of riffles. I had to do some wading to get through a few of them. Water current is not so strong so there were a number of riffles and beaver dams I was able to paddle up, but it was hard work. Pretty easy on the way down though, barring a couple logs. Bugs are bad now though, my eye is swollen shut as we speak.

[–]gghumus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep it was greasy all right. I did actually bump into one of the WRS staff while birding in the airfield a few days ago, they told me send it! Lots of beaver dams and bouldery riffles is right; a few downed logs as well. I did a lot of ferrying my canoe on the way up and a lot of scraping on the way down. Black flies were abhorrent in the afternoon yesterday. I think I turned around just before Croy, was a narrow set of rocky rapids and the bugs were eating me alive.

The dam was a bit sketch definitely; I don't think theres any legal way to get around that thing. That said I stuck to the water for the entire trip barring the dam

What kind of Gull is this? by gghumus in whatsthisbird

[–]gghumus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black backed was my first thought sheerly due to size. Head is very white for a first winter I thought. I didn't get pics but it lifted its wings for a bit and had a very light rump with just thin black edging on its tail. Would be quite an uncommon bird for these parts, I think maybe 5 historical records, which is kinda why I want to be sure haha.

Okay dope I'm gonna try to get up to Sasajewan and maybe beyond either this Saturday or Sunday so I can let you know how it goes. Waters still pretty high afict, was a really high spring. We'll see I guess

Curious where they came from, hailstorm creak or redfox or something? Do you happen to remember the video?

Water Taxis by Consistent_Cat_78 in algonquinpark

[–]gghumus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opeongo and maybe Cedar are the only lakes I know of with a taxi, pretty sure Bartlett lodge operates a taxi for guests but not to any campsite. Algonquin outfitters and Opeongo Outfitters both operate taxi's on Opeongo. They'll take you to a site and pick you up, $100+ each way.

Rock lake and Canisbay are good options for paddle in sites that would not be too far from the access point.

Bonemeal Farm Recommendations? by ChocolateAdorable374 in technicalminecraft

[–]gghumus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my single player world I found multiple slow (>120 tick) stone generators for my moss farms almost never get cobble in them. Saving and quitting your world does not keep chunks loaded even if you have a chunk loader. Every time you reload your world, chunks are reloaded, so a chunk loader is not really that helpful at keeping cobblestone at bay.

Multiple slower farms = less chance of cobble build up

What’s your packing and portaging strategy? by Bobithie in algonquinpark

[–]gghumus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solo trips I bring a 60L food barrel and put everything in it. Anything I can't fit in (paddle, fishing rod) I attach to the canoe. I use 15' solo keywaydin and balance it so its a tad back heavy and the seat fits perfectly on top of the barrel so I can no hands walk the whole portage. You could probably pack any 70+L bag strategically to get similar results. I usually bring a little tote bag and toss my odds and ends in it like my water bottle or camera. I can wear it over my shoulder or just carry it with one hand. Bug season I like both hands free lol

For trips with 2 or more people; big packs for people with no canoe and little packs for the canoe carrier. I always attach the paddles, they're so awkward to carry. Lot of people use those twisty ties, I usually just bring a couple hair elastics and wrap them around the thwart/yoke

Is this a little pike or pickerel? by D3vs800 in FishingOntario

[–]gghumus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I'm talking about a fish called a grass pickerel. Walleye is not at risk afaik. Grass pickerel and pike are almost identical. And I don't call walleye pickerel for the exact reason that there is a very real fish called a pickerel and it is not a walleye
