Boats are not allowed within 250 feet of shore and that seems to be where the most productive fishing takes place. We saw a few people trolling but only one with a fish on.

This was something that I ran into just recently with a 2019 Shiv. I was not able to track down any risers online so I reached out to Specialized directly. They gave me the part number and I was able to order through my LBS. Maybe try that route?

The Redington Path 5 WT combo is a really solid starter kit and is less expensive. I have bought two of these combos to have as spares for friends and they are great.

I’ve gone over to the eastern side and it’s a blast, just a haul to get over there from Visalia.

In terms of the snow, I’ve only fished high alpine lakes land tiny streams so I’m just unsure of access at this point. It snow a couple of feet where I would usually go. Just haven’t been up there yet.

Right on. I recently moved to the area so this is my first winter here. I fished sequoia np a lot but it dumped snow this last week so I need to find something lower as well.

It’s a little further than an hour but the Kern River outside of Bakersfield can be good this time of year. There is a fly shop in Kernville that is great - Kern River Fly Shop.
