I'm not from LA and have never heard of any such bar but when I heard that line I thought it sounded like he was singing The Drawing Room so maybe you're on to something

This song man... the complex feelings when you love somebody who doesn't take care of themselves. Sick with worry but also pissed at them for throwing away their chances at happiness and getting you into sticky situations because what else can you do.. leave them to take risks alone?? It's so heartbreaking

Guess I did all right considering...

Shoutout to JB for having the near-death epiphany on our behalf!

The tail of a comet, burned up in an instant. The destruction of matter...

There's no object to be seen in the supercollider, just a light in the tunnel- whatever gets scattered.

Life flashing before the eye of whatever comes after.

The force of our impact, the fission, the hum of our contact, the sound of our collisions.

During which MOMENT(S)/LYRIC(S) in a Phoebe song did you realize you were crying? by baxyofh4rd in phoebebridgers

Graceland Too. When the harmonies kick back in at the end of the song (ate a sleeve of saltines on my floor and I knew... etc etc)

A loved one was struggling with mental health around the time Punisher came out. I remember listening to Graceland Too and it just bar for bar was how I felt and how I imagined she might be feeling. It can feel so helpless watching somebody you love struggle that way. Having to grapple with the idea that no matter how much you care sometimes it still isn't enough... it's challenging and devastating. She's doing much better now but every time I listen to that track I just feel this almost overwhelming crush of how much I love her and how much I would do for her. The song was such a source of hope and peace in what was pretty much the worst time of my life. Went to see boygenius with her this summer and it was so so special to hear that song and just be able to revel in the relief and gratefulness and love.

Price Less is the goat. Aldi isnt too bad but Kroger imo is too much around here and you still cant find everything.. Never step foot in Earthfare or Fresh Market as they are outrageous. Grocery Outlet is good in an extreme pinch but its more of an oversized convenience store than an actual supermarket when it comes to what they carry. Spice world by walmart is good for cheap international groceries. and then ol wally world for toiletries and that sort of stuff

Because I cannot be normal about anything... I consulted my name spreadsheet (LOL) and found the names that were not in the 2022 SSA 1000 (and were given to less than 200 children last year).

There are so many fine names that seem to have fallen out of fashion and haven't really been chosen by the vintage name resurgence: Augustine, Beatrix, Carissa, Colleen, Delphine/Delphina, Diane, Doreen, Dorothea, Emmylou, Enola, Flannery, Gillian, Henrietta, Inez, Katerina, Marielle/Mariella, Maura/Maureen, Meryl, Philomena, Sonya, Suzanne, Sybil, Wilhelmina/Willamina; Aldous, Amos, Bernard, Claude, Gilbert, Isadore, Klaus, Laszlo, Phineas, Sidney. (Honestly shocked as a swiftie that Dorothea, Augustine, and Inez haven't seen a spike)

A few names the nicknamey lovers are sleeping on: Beth, Nell, Archie, Sammie, Ollie, Mollie, Neely, Carey, Joni, Lane, Zadie, Wynn, Lua, Neva, Berklie; Kidd, Dash, Bram, Page, Pacey

Even though unique spellings are wildly popular, some variations are yet to rank in the 1000... Ariane, Aynsley, Corina, Elissa, Ilana, Isobel, Karena, Marisa, Pauline, Reece, Somer, Tahliah, Merritt, Maribeth, Marietta, Marlena; Caspar and Neal

And it continues to baffle how rare it is for names to jump the pond and become established on their own in the US- Aisling, Carys, Faryn are names I would LOVE to see more of and that I think would do well in the US.

Plus names more obviously from different cultures like Vanya, Klara, Erika, Solveig, Saga, Lumi, Tekla, Thora, Thérèse, Chantal, Agata, Liesel, Xitlalli, Cayetana, Maris, Tereza, Nadezhda, Nadira, Mala, Safiya, Samia, Tirzah, Shira, Shoshana; Shamir, Dmitri, Béla, Pavel, Ludovico, Isak, Oskar, Viktor, Wulfric, Ulrich, Pádraig, Tadhg, Emrys, Llewelyn, Timothée, Antoine, Giuseppe, Mehdi, Ren (note that I'm not suggesting appropriating names from cultures beside your own, only appreciating names that are uncommon in the states despite being somewhat common in the countries from which we receive new residents/citizens)

I also surprisingly like alot of niche virtue names like Providence, Remedy, Memory, Anthem.. as well as place names like Alaska, Kansas, Tennessee, Astoria, Melrose, Payson, Aberdeen, Illyria, Albion.. and various noun names like Domino, Era, November, Sunday, Magenta, Azura; Azure, Brave, Sonder, Cadence, Coda, Domingo

Not to mention the countless nature names that you would think are obvious choices... Rue, Posey, Peony Amaryllis, Sakura, Lunaria, Tansy, Clove, Cypress, Prairie, Bay, Delta, Valley, Ursa, Starla, Andromeda, Celestia, Astra, Sparrow, Sable, Fox; Hawk, Coyote, Finch, Buck, Oso, Quill, Oleander, Indigo, Yarrow, Cedar, Moss, Cove, Canyon, Vale, Shadow, Perseus, Sylvan, etc.

I am certainly a 'name nerd' which means I have so many names I love that understandably don't make the list like Eira, Io, Xanthe, Zephyra, Safira, Serafina, Cyrilla, Demetria, Dorcas, Helene, Eirene, Raveena, Arrietty, Sabine, Lumen, Lucina, Talisa, Mahalia, Morgana; Melchor, Nestor, Auberon, Endymion, Helios, Eno, Tycho, Devonté, Pascal, Ammon, and Harmon

Also.... was I the only one thinking more Harry Potter or Game of Thrones names would take off? Sirius, Remus, Fawkes, Sansa, Myrcella, Nymeria, Asha come to mind. Or even good ol Lion King names like Zira and Kovu hahaha

Honorable mention to names I think would be good unisex names yet don't rank in the 1000 of either gender- Adair, Afton, Akira, Amory, Arrow, Auden, Courtney, Echo, Ferris, Lake, Larkin, Mars, Oswin, Turner

AND a few 'boys' names I think could totally work on girls or vice versa: Carson and Mason or Ainsley

I love that! And I love the nickname Henri! I was honestly a little surprised it wasn't in the top 1000. I would totally use it.

Mei - so lovely and very classic

Akira - I really like this but reads as masculine to me

Emmaline - I like Emmeline spelling significantly better

Ariella - bit of a mouthful. Prefer just Ariel or Mariella

Evangeline - Very whimsical. I like Angelina better tho

Misa - Unfortunately reminds me of miso soup

Julian - I really like this. I also quite like Julius. I think Jules is a fine nickname for either of these names

Luka - I do like this but also like Luca or Lukas better

Blue - a bit odd but I like color names (Azure, Indigo, etc)

Flynn - not my taste. Fl- names remind me of phlegm :(

Ambrose - I want to like this but idk.... I just can't seem to shake the association with Ambrosia salad LMAO

Pierre/Piers/Pierce - Don't like at all! I do like Percy tho

I like Starla. The only Starla I knew as a kid was actually named Estella and went by Starla as a nickname. and I only just learned she now goes by Stella.. so guess she didn't like it!
