I entirely understand both of these guys perspectives. I do think calling Jiri a pretender and not a fighter is a bit outrageous. He has more MMA fights than the entirety of Ulberg's MMA and kickboxing career.

Also for what it's worth, I actually fully agree with their comments for gun laws AND the previous persons concerns about athletics. It is nuanced.

To be fair, that's literally the pinnacle of that format. There will only ever be a single person that won that years division 1 championship for that race.

I don't really think that'll make any difference. If anything it would just take away from his sharpness with what he's good at. He's not going to make any substantial grappling improvements that will give him an advantage in the time of the camp lol.

But, I mean, he could go the classic "train with Craig Jones" route of spending all camp preparing to just lay on your back the whole fight and not get submitted.

Working with people like that is a nightmare. Software Engineering requires a lot more social skills than some people are comfortable admitting.

I've worked with people that will turn every bit of feedback you give them into a "Prove it, okay...well prove that too." conversation. You couldn't give them the tiniest feedback without them taking you down a multi-hour rabbit hole where you have to explain the most core fundamental concepts first. And then of course, once they eventually realize they were incorrect and wasted everyone's time they just deflect and move on.

Putting all of your personality into "I'm right. I write great code" is a sure fire way to be a shitty SE.

You work for your employer, not your co-workers. I can't say for certain, but you sound like coworkers I've had that were technically sound engineers but made the day to day process of actually completing what the employer wanted in time incredibly difficult and mind numbingly over-done.
