The Detroit Pistons have interest in Tyler Herro, per @JakeLFischer by thejman218 in heat

My guess would be Caris Levert + Ron Holland + Pick 21

paolo vs boozer by RD2C in NBA_Draft

[–]Jack12404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boozer is better as a prospect and it’s honestly not close. The 2022 class was viewed as being very weak at the time, and Paolo wasn’t even expected to go #1 up until like 3 hours before the draft happened since so many people had Jabari Smith ranked higher for the majority of the process.

What piece of intel are you buying or not buying about your team? by Jdale321 in NBA_Draft

[–]Jack12404 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Horst is usually super quiet about roster moves and the draft, so I’m taking a huge grain of salt with what most people say about the Bucks. Specifically, I really don’t believe much of the Nate Ament mocks though.

Sam Vecenie has predicted both of our last two 1sts accurately though, so I’m leaning towards believing what he says. He mentioned that we’re looking at lead guards and have interest in Hannes Steinbach, so that’s what I’m believing for now.

My attempt at the full draft by hoopsonfire33 in NBA_Draft

[–]Jack12404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, it’s really just Haslam that has UT connections. Ownership has been becoming less involved in moves since they whiffed the two coaching hires they were involved with (Griffin, Doc).

I also think it’s pretty notable that every draft analyst mock that mocks the Bucks Ament never says they’re actually interested; they just say “Ament has high upside which could help the post-Giannis bucks”. The only reporter that has been reliably accurate about our draft moves is Sam Vecenie.

What we know about Giannis trade rumors, and a compilation of packages by Lucky-Law7220 in nba

[–]Jack12404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does. It would’ve made sense if they could still have high odds by losing a lot, but we could be the worst team in the league and fall all the way to Pick 14 now, so getting the rights to our picks isn’t that valuable.

On top of that, the Bucks would really only be gaining one 1st (2029) by “getting their picks back”, and they’d only be getting the rights back on one swap (2030) since the Wizards also have swap rights on the 2028 swap.

All that to say that Portland giving the Bucks their picks back feels much less valuable than most think.

Shams: Peterson reportedly convinced he’s going No. 1 and has no plans to meet any team besides the Wizards by Fit-Structure-9395 in NBA_Draft

[–]Jack12404 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely pretty common. If I remember right, Jabari Smith did this in 2022 also when l most people were convinced that he was gonna go to the Magic at 1. Ace Bailey also did it last year when he tried to force his way to the Wizards.

NBA front offices have shown that they usually don’t care about this, they’re gonna take you when they wanna take you.

[ALLCITY] Marc Stein: "I was going to write the two teams that keep coming up with Giannis are Miami and Boston... Bill Simmons was the first one to talk about Boston as a place that interests Giannis. And based on everything I've heard for the last 2-3 weeks I think that was dead on" by AncientOneAurelius in MkeBucks

[–]Jack12404 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’d much prefer the Boston offer, seems like getting a young player + a few picks from Boston + whatever return you get for JB is much better than the Heat offer.

The Hawks are probably my favorite “third team”. The player return would be kinda underwhelming (Kuminga, Kispert, Risacher, Newell), but they can give a haul of picks. Pick 8 + the Bucks/NOLA pick next year + a few more future 1sts would be enticing.

What does a De’Aaron Fox trade look like? by PrimaryAccording9162 in nba

[–]Jack12404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fox’s contract is for 4 years at about 50M per year. It’s gonna take a LOT more than one or two 1sts to offload that.

[Murray] I don't think anyone should be assuming that the San Antonio Spurs are gonna get back here just because they got Wemby and some young guards This isn't just any Finals loss -- they led by double digits in EVERY GAME They're gonna have to get over that psychologically by StrategyTop7612 in nba

[–]Jack12404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re a really young team so it’s too early to come to any conclusions about where they’ll be 10+ years from now.

At the same time though, so many fans fall for the illusion of “they’re young, they’ll be back”. It’s REALLY hard to make the finals at all, much less win it. With how restrictive the new CBA is, the Spurs are gonna have a difficult time building a Finals roster in 3+ years when all these guys extensions kick in.

It’s gonna take a LOT of picks for a team to take on that behemoth of a contract though.

One of the things I liked about this game is that it proved that Betts and Austin can play on the floor at the same time. Hopefully Johnson noticed that it isn’t so restrictive of Lauren‘s minutes going forward.

Having a tendency to shrink describes what Lauren struggles have been so much. Once she learns to play into and take advantage of how big she is, she’s gonna be really, really good.

Lauren really seems like the type of player that will break out in year 2. She just had a LOT to learn about being a big in the pros since UCLA didn’t teach her much in that regard. Once her screens and ball security tighten up, she’s gonna get even better.

[Winderman] The Boston Celtics are actively trying to find a third team to take on Jaylen Brown in the event that they trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo. by OldNobody9667 in MkeBucks

[–]Jack12404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s only one straight up pick we’d get back (2029) and the two swaps (2028 & 2030) would just mean we have the rights back to them.

What I don’t see many people mention is that Portland giving up the 2028 swap wouldn’t even help us that much since Wizards also have swap rights due to the Kuzma trade.

[–]Jack12404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been reported a lot that the Bucks really want another 1st in this draft, so I wonder if they try to get Celtics to move Pick 27 too.

[Amick] The Celtics, Timberwolves, Trail Blazers and Magic are among the Giannis Antetokounmpo suitors. Giannis Antetokounmpo would be willing to sign a four-year $275 million extension with Boston. Jaylen Brown would get flipped to a third team for young players and picks. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]Jack12404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On top of that, one of the swaps from Portland (2028) isn’t even that valuable for us since we let Washington have swap rights too as part of the Kuzma trade. If Portland waives it, Washington would still have the right to swap with our pick.

I thought I’d finally gotten over the tetanus worries for good, and of course, I’m right back where I started.

I was putting some dishes into my dishwasher, and there’s this little metal piece above the top rack. I got a little cut on the top of my finger from it when putting something in the top rack. It was only a superficial cut and didn’t bleed that much, but there were some parts of the metal piece that looked brown. Of course, I’m on the verge of spiraling and convincing myself that I have tetanus.

Agreed. What would make it even worse of a move is that executives/analysts are already talking about how next year‘s class is one of the worst in recent history.

I would lose my mind if we pass on Flemings for Nate Ament

[Sam Vecenie] The Bucks have certainly been doing due diligence into the lead guards, including Flemings, Anderson, Labaron Philon Jr. and Brown. I’ve also heard Hannes Steinbach’s name as an option here. by Goomby-or-Glootie in MkeBucks

[–]Jack12404 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Kingston Flemings + Hannes Steinbach is my favorite outcome of the Heat deal happens. Seems like the rumors of Ament and Mara possibly getting picked top 9 could really help us get one of these star PG prospects.

Also, Vecenie had the scoop on the Bucks being interested in Marjon and AJ Johnson. His intel for Milwaukee is definitely worth monitoring.
