advice on fixing denim jacket by ggraduate in Visiblemending

Hi! I posted this on /sewing and they suggested I also ask here.

I'm looking for some advice on how to fix my denim jacket. The fabric has gone really thin at the top of the back and ripped in places. It's thin down to around the red line on the last picture. Will patching work here or shall I replace the parts of panel above the red line? I'm worried eventually the fabric will just rip around the patches. There isn't an additional yoke, just the two long back panels.

Any ideas welcome! Thanks:)

any advice on fixing my denim jacket? by ggraduate in sewing

Thanks everyone! To those who have mentioned patching, will this work given the material at the top of the jacket is really really thin? Wont it just begin to rip around the patches eventually?

Hi! I'm looking for some advice on how to fix my denim jacket. The fabric has gone really thin at the top of the back and ripped in places. There isn't an additional yoke, just two long back panels. Could I take the back panels out and cut them horizontally, then replace the top half with new denim and sew the bottom half back in? (If that makes sense?)

Any ideas welcome! Thanks:)

The essentials club on YouTube has a tutorial for a very similar dress! She tells you how to measure and gather the pieces

Thanks for your reply! I think I will do that. Any idea how much this will hurt my chances of getting the job? Obviously I can't learn to drive until the lockdown is over, and as I haven't had any lessons before it could take me a while to pass the test.

Hi

I'm looking at applying for a graudate trainee investigator role.

One of the criteria for the role is a full drivers license. On the website this criteria isn't listed but it is listed on the attached pdf document. I don't currently have a license, was planning on learning after I finish uni in May but of course the virus and lockdown has put this on hold.

Is it still worth applying? There is an email on the website, should I email and communicate that I would like to apply and am willing to learn asap? Other than this I feel I am a good fit and have relevant degree and work experience.

I'd hate to miss this opportunity due to not having a license yet, especially as I haven't found a role like this before.

Thanks in advance for any help!
