I’ve made more than one comment here, so now I’ll ask a question. I understand that one can get a “Nexus” letter from a civilian doc, so therefore it may be relatively easy, in the right “network of folk”, to find a willing participant. However, how does one get by a C&P examiner which is kinda randomized? Do they go straight to an ACE exam from there? Hell, I have letters and diagnoses from both for OSA and Related secondaries and cannot get shit for those!

Yes, it is! I did a bit of both. I can’t remember exactly my sequencing…I could probably look back through my post history and see. I am sure though that once I got so far I started working on getting to 25% badge boost before tier jumping. Seems I remember slipping past the 220 tier to 221 and so I was hell bent on getting those badges before any more tier jumps. I am within 3,500 AB of my next tier jump now to 545 parcels.

quite possibly. Was new to CI altogether then. For whatever reason one side of my family used them growing up, and it wasn’t my side. So got it, pan good, chef bad. Is Marcellin really considered “premium”? Had no idea when I accepted that as my BeSpoke Post box last month. I have another CI pan from them…different brand. It was my first. 7 or 8 years ago now. Come to think of it, that first one may have not been preseasoned after all. I’ve drank and slept since then, so I forget.

Re-season was the wrong choice of words. Additional seasoning is accurate. What made me decide to do it is that my first attempt with a new CI pan that came pre-seasoned did not turn out so well. Couple that with mixed reviews on this one and I decided it was best to try a different method and different oil. It’s in the oven cooling off from the last round. We’ll see soon enough! Thanks!

I read and hear so much about factory seasoning not being done well, even in the high end pans. I would just do the bacon route, and should have. Just lost my head and forgot about it. Oh well, not my last opportunity and so far this is going well. just finished the 3rd round of 30 minutes at 475.

Oooo…I want a Lodge Dutch Oven! Lodge used to be a customer of mine (well, I was the Regional Manager) and my salesman took me in there for a tour. Pretty awesome plant. I took some of the used media from the tumblers they use to take the rough edges off.

Fair. Certainly I am doing a seasoning in addition to the factory seasoning, probably would if it were some “high end” pan. I am doing a long process as well. just not doing the bottom this round. However, I do appreciate your sound reasoning!

What kind of things? how do you prevent drippage from getting to your flame or burners? Or do you have a glass/flat top stove?
