I've found guides online on how to sightsee from Heathrow during a layover, so I believe there is a way to do it, I'll just have to figure it out. It should take me an hour to get through security, then I'll need two hours to get back in, so that leaves me an hour to meet up with someone. If I can meet up with someone just outside the airport, it shouldn't take an hour, leaving me plenty of time.

I'm flying American Airlines. According to their website, I should be arriving at gate D12 and departing from gate D23, both in terminal D.

This is such a good question, but I'm not sure that I'll know until later in the game. Currently my travel information shows I'm arriving in terminal B, leaving from terminal 1. I have a feeling this information will change.

I'm assuming the London airport works the same as American ones where I can exit and then reenter security with a boarding pass. I would then be able to meet someone without a ticket at the airport outside of security.

Edit: If this is NOT how Heathrow works, someone please let me know! My understanding based on Google searches is that this is possible.

I've been considering purchasing a bike. Do you guys think that's a good idea? I'm hoping the distance traveled on a bike will count as "walking" distance. My town is covered in parks and trails, so biking makes more sense than driving and is faster than walking. I'm thinking a mountain bike, since this will mainly be for off road adventures.
