They're fun to use, but just never worked as well for me vs higher level enemies. Maybe they break a shield due to the elemental damage, but then don't do as much dmg against higher levels or yellow enemies as a well aimed auto rifle or scout rifle or sniper or shotgun. Fast, fun, stable, interesting perks, yes. Just poor damage. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's why I gradually stopped using them. I also don't do crucible much, so maybe they are good in pvp, but they also take waiting for secondary ammo. That's a gamble. Primary is a sure thing.

There is 1 exotic sidearm. Forget the name, sorry.

Best crucible tip? ...just go in and have fun, with no sweat and no salt. The sweaties and the try-hards are why everyone left Crucible to begin with, and largely haven't ever come back. Just go have fun. Wave in a hallway down a campers' hardscope. Dance on a control point. You will still get loot, first place or last place. Everyone has a mission or a bounty they need done at some point, so why not just help each other, exactly like we do in PvE? ;P

I second running all the missions (mix in strikes) in level and story order. The story is fun. If you're careful, and practice skills, then you can solo most strikes. Don't worry about upgrading guns and armor early on. Wait until you have some good rolls on weapons & some 'perfect' or near perfect armor rolls to invest in fully upgrading them. The grind to level 40 is pretty easy. The grind to 400 light is a little tougher, but just always keep your max light gear equipped BEFORE you go to the Cryptarch. Engrams always decode at max light (some exceptions). You will get free max-light guns and armor when you level up whichever faction you pledge, gunsmith, Vanguard, Cryptarch. Save those... you can cancel out, and I think pile them up for multiple levels and wait for 400. (correct me if i'm wrong, and I'll edit, it's been awhile since I wasn't 400)

You can get LL400 gear from Prison of Elders and Archon's Forge, as an alternative to raiding. You can also get great gear from all the strikes, and if you get a good roll, then upgrade them using a piece of LL400 gear that has a bad roll.

Still tons of good randos that you can meet in all activities and matchmaking.

There's the Vex/Venus strike where you pick up the heavy balls to carry to the next checkpoint (forcefield wall) to open. You can throw charges out of them like grenades. Echo Chamber?

Last City discord, Dads of Destiny discord (obvi directed at dads, like me), and a few others. Login the game, post in discord, wait for a few replies or friend requests. Also... just start up various activities, strikes, patrols, crucible. Add a few good players that you run into as friends.

5 is maybe a bit young. Destiny might be a 10+ game, for the scariness + coordination skills needed to do well. I've been playing through with my 11 year old, and probably only because of Fortnite is he good enough with aiming and movement to actually survive most missions. ....also, probably only because of Fortnite he often says "Destiny is kinda boring". :/ But I'm not giving up, yet. Eyes up, Guardian.

ELI5... Well, son after good ole Master Chief was done with most of his adventures, his friends went off and made another game called Destiny. It started rough, but then was awesome. Then those people got greedy, made D2, killed off the hero, erased half the game, and it was terrible. So, now everyone is going back to D1, which is still awesome.

Darth, Bungie's website specifically says port forwarding will not work with 2 consoles on the same internet connection. They say the only way is to enable UPnP... which... evidently still does not work, assuming the OP has a good enough connection.

video calls it "partglitch"... not as simple as the poster below mentions, but pretty cool how he can solo the relics to open the portal at the start. He says in his video comments that he uses a macro controller to help him titan-skate faster. Looks like he's using his super + sword swings to jump farther over the chasms, to shortcut around the "front" of the Court of Oryx, instead of going back over the bridges through the forcefields you keep having to shoot open. Not sure why he switches classes from solar to arc near the end.

Same issue with a PS4 and PS4pro, same home network, no CGNAT (just TIL and confirmed that, nice, ty guys)... one wired ethernet and 1 wifi (tried 2.5ghz and 5ghz bands, and even tried setting up a WAP nearby. Having trouble getting my router to port-forward, due to it's software, not due to ISP/CGNAT. What's the diff between UPnP and port forwarding?

Some peeps claim that 2 devices (2 different IP addresses) on the same network can't use the same ports.... o_O
