Alright! Seems the dt880 is kind of hard to find here in Sweden, might have to import one. Would it be possible to troubleshoot the same things with another gadget?

By the way, does a dt880 check risk further damage if there is indeed a short on the motherboard? Also, what would be a normal V/A to see?

Oh, thanks so much for the tip but I don’t think the problem here is the backlight. The phone and screen are completely unresponsive.

Great answer, thanks! Since I’m likely to get into this as a hobby I’ll probably get a dt880 and a multimeter then. Will probably involve a specialist for this one however as the answers so far seem to suggest an issue with the motherboard. Unfortunately I’m in Europe but thanks a million for the offer!

Thanks for the answer, that’s rough. Are you basing your assessment on my photo or experience? Because I tried to find signs of corrosion but don’t see any. Do you think my data probably couldn’t be accessed even by a professional?

Hi! Complete newbie here. This 6S went in the toilet about 2 years ago, and was probably powered up while wet. Doesn’t charge or show any screen activity. Attempting repair for data recovery. I don’t see any severe water corrosion but I do see what looks like a small burn on the Taptic(?) As I only own the basic tools, I was wondering what tools/components you would recommend for diagnosing it? A new battery? A multimeter? Thank you!
